Love the legibility and toughness that the Citizen brings. Unbeatable accuracy and a quick adjust bracelet for under $500. Can’t beat it.

Those Citizens are ridiculously good watches

Thanks for the great review. Hard to choose one. The Citizen has big bold legible markers and is more simple. The Seiko is more ornate and detailed and would hold my attention more. In that regard, they are apples and oranges, so I'd have to keep both.

I like your low-light transitions! I’ve found that’s where a dark-faced watch excels. In low light, before the lume kicks in, I can still make out the time on my black watches with light hands, when I can’t on my SARB035.

I was back and forth between a Seiko Alpinist and a Citizen ProMaster. I personally prefer mechanical drives but the Eco-Quartz and an interesting take on quartz movements. Then I saw this video of the two side by side, and I'm blown away by the ProMaster. That satiny case and bracelet are absolutely beautiful. It just looks to me like a more expensive watch. I also like how legible the Promaster numerals and indices next to the Alpinist. Add to this the AR coating on the ProMaster. The only minus I've heard is that radio-controlled movement and if using in a country outside Japan, you have to use a phone app to mimic the Japanese radio control signal. I'm still looking and reading up on the Promaster, but all things considered it's a beautiful watch and an outstanding price point.

It's always a good day to see my blue Alpinist in a video, especially on bracelet. I have mine on today (although with a Strapcode Super-O) bracelet. That Citizen is a cool watch, though I agree it would be so great if they offered it in an automatic version.

Thanks for great review. I have the citizen coming but have the seiko with the beige dial in mind. Subbed. 👍

I have had both and both are great, the Alpinist is certainly more versatile. I still have my green promaster land definitely a great field watch.

I'm wondering how the Citizen is holding up to those who have one? Another review said the titanium scratched easily a "scratch magnet." Maybe he was confused with the steel version?
Cheers

Thanks for the review! That gap in the clasp on the alpinist looks to be quite big which is quite disappointing. How noticeable is it in person and is it something you can overlook?

I just bought a baby Alpinist and a Promaster Land for my sons.

Interesting, I've never heard of someone intentionally putting a Seiko bracelet on a watch. Mind-boggling

Unfortunately Citizen There is often a defect on the dial. Sometimes the dial and bezel markers do not match on some models. Even on these beautiful blue Citizen, there is also such a defect, pay attention to how the markers are on the 6 o'clock.

It's like comparing a Telsa with a Toyota.

I think the face of Seiko Alpinist that you are showing is hard to read. The hands are fine, but not the numbers or indicies. This Citizen should have a couple of micro-adjustments, too, in order to fine-tune the fit.
