✅ Waveform External Antenna - DATA DEEP DIVE - Arcadyan KVD21 T-Mobile 5G Home Internet

Показать описание
This is a deep dive of all the cell metrics/signal and speed tests after I installed the Waveform panel external antenna to my T-Mobile 5G Home Internet Arcadyan KVD21 gateway. I show how the speeds change from my office to the attic and which ports on the gateway I had the best results on. This kit has U.Fl connectors to SMA and then SMA to N-type for 30ft cable extension to the antenna itself. I may also be testing more antenna types (log periodic or grid periodic) in the future.

Great work! I'm in the process of collecting data myself. Everyone's scenario is specific but your info has helped a ton! I swear I spend more time doing speed tests and making adjustments than using the internet!

For a year i kept the WF plugged into D&M. I always stayed on B2 & N71. Yesterday I decided to switch to M1&M2 connected internal to 4&5. It switches between B2&B66 and N41. Cell metrics definitely improved. But my download speeds seem to top out at 35mb. When i had them hooked up to D&M and nothing on 4&5. Sometimes it would get up to 160MB on B2 & N71. I thought about disconnecting 4 & 5 an see if that may help. Because it makes no since being on the faster bands and better metrics but getting slower speeds. Unless there's severe congestion on the tower?. I also have the Sagemcon and I noticed the Arcadyan has a better radio at picking up signals. When I place them both in the same spot. The metrics on the Arcadyan are better than the Sagemcon. Also when on B66 & N71 my download speeds are slower than when on B2 & N71.

Sir, you are certainly due some credit for this. I started doing a similar chart to show where I got better signal so I understand how time consuming this is. Hats off to you man 👏. I know I've said it already, but again THANK YOU for putting this together. That being said, I'm connecting my new antennas now... hopefully I can grab some 5G finally. I saw another comment asking if we could email you... I see that you're helping a ton of people all over the country. If I were you I'd make a new Gmail account and use it to go back n forth with people like us. I'm in N Central FL and I don't mind compiling some more data and sending you what I find if it could be beneficial for someone else. Either way, another great video. Much appreciated.

2.1.22 Thanks Nater for taking the time to do this testing.

Hey Nate thanks for the great videos. Question: Would the frequency difference between the Waveform (600-2700 MHz) and the Eifagur (698-2700 MHz) make a difference on the N71 & B66 networks? Thank you!

Thanks Nate for sharing that information. I also have a Waveform antenna on my Nokia. I was stuck on the n71 band with download speeds from 5 mbs at 8pm due tower congestion to 100 mbps at 5 am. Now with the antenna 10.5 up in the air next to the house (for shielding), I am getting 170 to 230 mbs download on ethernet cable with a new computer and 50 all the time on WiFi with an old computer.
Upload is 6 to 15. I put a T-shirt over the Nokia unit and duck taped it to a board so that it would not move while I installed the U.FL connectors. I am using the RSRF RS 400 cable 20 feet long. I get the n41 band all the time now. I am about 2.5 miles from the tower in a rural area. The Waveform antenna was worth buying.

Final overall best ports to use for the Arcadian ?M1, M2? And Nokia?L3, L4? ….. am assuming that was the best combinations generally … please correct if I got that wrong (Waveform flat panel only one 2x2 being used)

Having a slower upload on n41 is going to be typical as it is a TDD band vs FDD n71 band. FDD Bands almost always dedicate the same amount of network resources to upload and download. Where TDD allows carriers a lot more control over how much is dedicated to download. T-Mobile typically is 80% Download 20% Upload in this instance, until Upload Carrier Aggeration is more widely deployed. This will work the same as download CA combining different bands to increase the overall upload bandwith.

Great work and data. Once you thaw out, it might be worth it to try your panel outside even though you only going through plywood and asphalt shingles. My two Waveform panel antennas were only going through 20 year old double pained glass, but once I mounted them outside to the eave of my single story house the download speed went from about 100Mbps down to 300-400MBps down. The SNR, signal strength, and RSRP didn't improve all that much, but I was blown away with the speed increase.

with all of this testing im getting a 2x2 antenna what ports would be the best you think with a 2x2?

Hey question how was your signal originally? I have T-Mobile and have tried just about everything. I got the Chester device speed was the same. We switched to a verizon SIM was worse. Do you think a 4x4 would help it maybe I'm just too far from the tower.

What lead placement do you use for wave form 4x4 mimo and t mobile, I'm getting poor results

Update: My little mimo is not broad enough to catch the waves, (don't quote me) my way of understanding. I have a panel mimo 2x2 but as waveform said theirs has a much broader span. I did learn of something new I may go with but have to wait, waveform has a surprise coming out in a bit.

You should do some tests simply using cardboard and aluminum foil. I faced one side of a 18"X24" piece of cardboard and bent it at a slight angle about 6" on both sides of the 24" horizontal span. Some details for my curiosity test:
Nokia Trash Can
Primary - Band 2
Secondary - Band N71
Tower approx. 4 mi.
Rural NY - wooded - Hilly terrain
T- mobile logo aimed directly at tower to get those Bands.
Foil side placed toward can - a few inches away on power cord inlet side.
Multiple tests performed back to back averaged
NO FOIL:
Ping 36> DL=55mbps> UL=31mbps
WITH FOIL:
PING 37> DL=55mbps> UL=39mbps
CONNECTION STATS - stayed pretty close each refresh with or without foil
PRIMARY SIGNAL>
2 Bars
RSRP -113 dBm
SNR 8 dB
RSRQ -12 dB
RSSI -81 dB
SECONDARY SIGNAL>
3 Bars
RSRP -95 dB
SNR 18 dB
RSRQ -11dB
So it appears the foil increased the UPLOAD speed approx. 8mbps while everything else was pretty consistent

Hey I am in a terrible area and you have most likely answered this somewhere but can you use the router anywhere? I put my friends address down and I am picking mine up Wednesday as I am so desperate for internet and especially unlimited.

My experience was great at first, but after about a month my speeds started to drop to the low teens from 7 to 9 pm. I went back to Xfinity and i get 700 down and 20 up for $64.00.

Thank you Nate. This info was very helpful. I was on the fence about adding a panel antenna to my Nokia. After viewing your research I doubt I'll benefit much if at all by adding an external antenna.

You need to add a short summary of your top port picks for the waveform on both the Nokia and Arcadyan…. Hard follow all your tests and quickly boil them down
