Indeed it is a fact that this weapon existed however, contrary to how the weapon was brought into use is where most people lose their minds. Our feeble mind and current level of understanding will not allow the ordinary earth bound foolish being ever to get a clue that these weapons were created from MANTRA! They simply had to have the qualification to and knowledge of how to call this weapon into being. By studying the Srimad Bhagavata Purana one learns that this weapon could be so finely tuned as to be deployed to a tiny embryo still within the womb of it's mother and though it might have indeed have killed the host mother and possibly a few other closely surrounding area beings with it it was a weapon very finely tunable. Most people read only parts of such literature but by delving down deep You really get the entire gist of what happened in the Kurukshetra war, how it happened. when it happened, why it happened and the fact remains that it wasn't even the same earth planet when it happened. Current timeline of Kali Yuga means that in Dwarpara Yuga everything was bigger in size as to now. As a witness the great king Mucukunda (who was also associated with those extra terrestrial beings) was sleeping in an earthly cave and after coming out of that cave observed that the current running age when he awoke was Kali Yuga where all the trees, human beings etc.. were reduced to a pygmy size!! Vedabase has it all.
