This Geckos Colors Are INSANE! [Gecko Unboxing]

today we check out a brand new reptile unboxing video. in this reptile unboxing video we get to see a new day gecko that we got for our day gecko breeding project. this day gecko is a standings day gecko. the color on the standings day gecko is absolutely insane and i cant wait to start this day gecko breeding project to get some standings day gecko babies.

Hows it going folks. New day new gecko. New day gecko that is. For half this bad boy i had the flu some energy was at a minimum, but still i think this day geckos makes up for it because got dang is it beautiful

*Edit* I have misspoken in this video. While standingi will not harm the babies and can be kept in the same setup, they do not show parental care like tokays and croc skinks.

I kept these guys as a kid and I couldn’t keep them from breeding.
Tips - the tank you have is nowhere near tall enough.
Vertical tanks.
Snake plant - they love to lay their eggs in them - and leave them there to incubate. They only eat dud eggs. You have some- plant way more.
One male one female - make sure you’re female is equal size to the male.
And this last one is key - they like a drier environment than other day geckos. They come from a drier part of Madagascar.
Babies- keep them separate and don’t put them in small plastic containers. The parents won’t eat them - but they babies will eat each other if there is a size difference. And they really don’t miss each other if you separate them.
Also honey, not fruit as a supplement to dusted crickets.

Do you have a source for the information that P. standingi provide parental care to their offspring?

On another note the enclosure is not suitable for this species - whatsoever. This is a semi arid species of Phelsuma and spends most of its life on large horizontal branches basking. This enclosure is far too small and does not have any suitable climbing or basking spots.

I have worked with and produced this species and hope you will dig a little deeper into their husbandry.
