There is no more chip shortage... Any company that use that excuse to gouge people, avoid them like a plague

That's right. Don't buy cars. Use your old car and fix what it needs. Drive it another 10 yrs or so.

I have been in the semiconductor industry for 40+ years. Nobody is making less chips. Everybody is making more. That is a scam, too.

Stopped at a local Toyota dealer on Wednesday to look at Tacoma pickups. The stickers on all had a $2, 000.00 "market adjustment" plus a bunch of dealer addons. I complained about that to the salesman who said that the MSRP and the dealer addons were not negotiable because they have people who will pay those prices. I told him maybe so but one of those people will not be me.

I’ve always thought they should release cars every two to even 5 years. Every year is just too excessive

Seriously don't buy it. I work for a company that makes parts for these big companies. Our work has been cut in half when we are usually busy. We can't survive on three days worth of work. Stop buying the cars until they fix the issue.

I'm buying used, screw the dealer mark ups and overpriced unit prices

Lol. Went to Honda dealer, strongly considered buying the new crv. They said market adjustment of 3 grand. I kind of laughed and said… not doing that. Driving a Perfectly good, 17 Camry.

Nobody should buy a new car anyways. The planned obsolescence is extremely high on these vehicles right now. There's a Dodge dealership right across the street from my work. One of the sales managers told me they sold three vehicles last month they only make about $4, 000 on a brand new retail car. That's not enough to cover overhead. He explained that they made over a hundred K that month in service. I remember being a young adult seeing GM and Ford trucks with 120K drivetrain warranty. Nowadays they come a 40-60K drive train warranty. I've heard from multiple people that they're GM transmission failed immediately outside the drivetrain warranty. They're making these vehicles to break so that you either buy another one. Or you pay out the wazoo to keep it on the road. Don't buy a new vehicle.

The best way to stick it to these corporations, any corporation, is to not buy. Keep and maintain your old stuff. Cars, phones, fridges, tvs, everything. The less we buy the less money they make, the less power they have.

They’re artificially creating a deficit

Problem is that 2 year old used cars are selling for msrp if not higher than new ones too. I sold a 2 year old Chevy trailboss with 20k miles back to a dealer for 2k more than what I bought it for.

This is why I haven’t purchased a new car since 2004

Car prices would probably be lower if more people would keep them longer. I won't buy junk, and I keep my cars as long as possible. Currently own a 2005 Honda Accord and a 2015 Subaru Forester. I'll replace the Honda when the wheels fall off and the repair cost doesn't work. Same with the Subaru.

My parents used to work for Ford (just retired last year) and I can say you are 100% correct (my cousin also works at a dealership.) If we didn't have the "A plan" employee pricing it would have been sold over MSRP by about 15- 20 thousand (Canadian)

Very true, these people like car stearership stores. Specially touota new models with high price tag is a joke.. no quality as older models….

Someone I know had to buy a car recently, but just refused their new car price. Three salesmen in, one finally offered to show her the "preowned" ones. I had suggested prior to 2021. She paid far less and got a far better deal.

Thank goodness I live in a small town with a local mechanic. He never tries to sell more than what needs to be done.

I kept my 94 civic for 24 years and that was in the salt/rust belt. Don't buy new. Make the car companies bring those prices down.
