DIY Wooden Name Sign | Perfect Wedding Gift | Modern Builds | EP. 66

This project was a good starting point for me learning lettering on the bandsaw and scrollsaw. It's not perfect, but made for a nice wedding gift for some friends. I'll have more info along with a materials and supplies list on my written article on my website, so be sure and check that out if you plan on making a sign yourself.

Hi Mike, lovely sign great work!
A few tips, Red is the best undercoat colour for Gold.
Packing tape on top of the template when cutting out on a scroll saw acts as a lubricant and your blade is less lightly to break.
If you're cutting something small with the scroll saw, tape down a thin piece of card over the blade opening, it will help support small pieces when doing fine work.

patience is key when it comes to cutting fancy letters, especially on fine lines cause it's easy for the wood to break. finish product looks great!

Tip: always select 'outline' for your fonts before printing. You'll save on wasting tons of extortionately expensive printing ink.

Nice build Mike! maybe try clamping down a dremel with an abrasive tool like a mini spindle sander to get to the final shape?
