Lets Build Twitter From the Ground Up: Episode 170 || Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and React

Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.

In this episode we finally wrap up getting the view individual posts feature wrapped up. We start out by setting up a new component to create a reply directly under the post rather than opening the reply modal. We finally do the smart thing and create a ProfilePicture component instead of copying and pasting the same thing everywhere we use a profile picture and use that inside our individual reply. Then we do a lot of refactoring work to get the individual post to work properly, including extracting all of feed modals from the feed page to the layout page, adding new logic to the feed slice for updating the feed when a reply comes in, and finally in the post slice to call the feed slice whenever a reply is made. We use all this new logic inside of the view post page to get creating a reply from that page working properly, and wrap up the episode building a container component to list all of the replies to the post as soon as they are posted.
