Do you speak about the veneer saw or the "jewler" marquetry blade?
We buy our "jewel" marquetry blade from Germany. They are available here through the American School of French Marquetry. I know some of our students buy them from local sources, but they are shorter.
The school also sell veneer saw, but they are easy to find. My favorite veneer saw isThe Gramercy Tools Veneer Saw from Tools for Working Wood.
Hope this answer your question

thanks for your reply. I am talking about the chevalet french saw that you sit on. the blade slides horizontally front to back. Made up with wooden framework and wooden clamp. Can they still be bought ?

Hi Patrick, thank you for your videos. I have been looking for information about marquetry using hide glue, and have watched several of your videos, which are very interesting and informative. And your work is amazing!
I'm hoping you might answer a couple of questions for me? Is it possible to apply a paper-backed marquetry panel using the hammer technique, or can marquetry panels only be applied using a press? I was hoping to use hide glue & hammer as I've had rather variable results with PVA and clamp press.
I also wondered how you remove the kraft paper once the panel is applied without affecting the glue holding the panel in place?
Thank you

Salut Patrice. Lovely work! I was wondering what kind of glue you are using?  It looks like such a great product, and I have just begun attempting this art, utilizing thick, messy wood glue.  For one, like I said, it is messy, and two it does dry somewhat yellow, so every little bit needs to be cleaned off thoroughly. Thank you!

How many veneer layers are in your marquetry packet when cutting? And what do you use to get those different colors?

Hello! I had one query ... I dedicate myself to the marquetry very recently, I'm from Argentina, and I wanted to know if he used animal glue to glue the pieces, if so, I imagine that you should use very thick, but which dilution is fair? what material placed under the marquetry when glue the pieces? Thanks, bye, I hope your answer.

We sell at the school all the hardware and plan for the chevalet in a kit, but you still have to build the wooden parts or have someone do it for you. if you go on wpatrickedwards dot blogspot dot com, and search for the article "what is a Chevalet kit", you will see what we propose.
