And I thank God for showing this to me! I always worried about being bad for wanting to protect myself. But my decision comes from a place of peace and not one of punishment towards my parents. They won’t change and they burned my trust with the pain they inflicted upon me. I forgive them for their transgressions despite the lack of change. If by some miracle they do want to repent, I’d rather them demonstrate this with others in their lives and people in need. The Lord protects me from further damage.

My husband and I CHOSE to not have children. Because of both of our dysfunctional family experiences growing up, neither one of us felt mentally or emotionally equipped to parent successfully. Today we are in our sixties and we are still discouraged from attending family functions that always center around my siblings now grown children and grandchildren. It hurts to not be welcomed in but we still feel we made the right decision years ago to not have kids. It is depressing though. People can be cruel.

My mother would scream at us weekly and never apologized. She wanted things to be like it was before she yelled at us. Made me a perfectionist because she cut me so deep with her words. I did everything I could to prevent that tongue lashing.

While I understand this, conceptually... Its not exactly as simple as this short clip makes it out to be. When there's children involved, and lack of support, and lack of awareness, and financial issues, unsafety, etc. I'm not Jesus, and I'm not discerning enough between my own voice versus knowing the holy spirit within. In no-contact for 2 years from my abusive narcissistic parents and brother golden son. God saved me in extremis from 40 years of abuse, injustice, interference and humiliation. I pray for them and I have entrusted them to Jesus, and I hope that He will never let me find them on my path again.

Unfortunately in the Church they do not understand this type of argument, a priest tried to get in the way to make me resume contact with them and called my narcissistic father telling him my news. I'm changing my phone number again and I'm on no-contact even with the priest now.

I have had no contact with my older sisters for a couple years. I tried to resolve issues with mother before she died and she felt she had nothing to resolve with me. I fear she is in hell. My sisters, they continue to be manipulative and call it caring and love. The best thing is to forgive them but also separate myself them until they are ready to repent and seek biblical resolve. FORGIVENESS DOES NOT EQUATE WITH TRUST! His last statement, I disagree! You can break ties with your family AND walk in freedom when the other members do not want to repent. Otherwise you will be a prisoner of their unforguveness.
