I’m 25 just started fishing last year. I’ve learned so much from YouTube, but the best thing is talking to old guys at the river or lake they are full of knowledge and eager to pass it on.

Not only did the little man catch his first bass yet he caught a crappie and pike! So wholesome❤️

I fished since I was very little.

My parents told me of the time they found me fishing on the dock without a hook cause it broke off. I was 3-4.

My dad is now 80, and I'm 45.

As far back as I can remember, we get together for at least 2 weeks a year and go fishing with my uncle.

I make sure to always set aside the time, cause I probably don't have many more trips left with em.

Im 52 years young and just started fishing last year. Grew up like alot of comments have said, fishing once in a while (rarely) and with very little luck. Im an avid outdoorsman, hunting, camping and bushcraft skills. Picked up an inexpensive spinning combo, a small amount of tackle, and a used canoe. Absolutely love it! Now that I have a Grandson, cant wait to get him out on the water.

Same here. Only went fishing with my dad maybe 2-3 times but I started going more on my own as I got older. Now I take my nephew every chance I get. He’s always ready to go no matter the time of day. Just got his own tackle box 2 weeks ago❤.

"if you dropped a hobby that you really enjoyed because somebody made you feel bad, take this as your sign to pick it up again"

Thank you, friend🌻✨

Love the message. Grew up fishing infrequently but outside of some awesome camping trip never more than a handful of times a year and I hadn’t gone in years except for one luckless time while on spring break in college. Everyone’s hobbies take a different path and no one way is better than another. Mentoring is always better than shaming someone for not getting the same experiences you had.

I’m 17 and my family isn’t super outdoorsy. I found a button cast rod at a garage sale for cheap and I got myself a tackle box and started fishing. Sometimes I get clowned on for having sub par equipment but then I just catch more fish than them! 😂

Some of my greatest childhood memories were fishing with my dad and family, whether we caught anything or not! Doesn’t matter if someone is self taught, on a boat, or are inexperienced! Your nephew looked genuinely happy out there with you. So show him what YOU know and what YOU have taught yourself regardless of where you learned it! Cherish the bond you are making with him and don’t let anyone discourage you or say otherwise!

Little man not only got his first bass but also hit the three piece of awesome species looks like a great day for sure and as a person who has always been outside and active I find the most rewarding thing you can do as an outdoors man is to also be a teacher and be taught by nature that it’s all interconnected you and the guy who just picked up a fishing rod have the same chance of catching that huge fish you’re both living in that moment and ecosystem

This is so accurate, especially living near the Gulf. Glad you're breaking the stigma.

I had been away from fishing very long time, Thanks for your video that made me start fishing again this summer and I really want to start what my family used to do in the past. My grandpa used to take me out fishing all the time when I was really young ( Commercial and Recreational) Now He’s getting really old and it’s been hard for him to get out from the house. Commercial fishing was running in my family for very long time but it stopped at my Dad, he didn’t have time to take care of it. Thanks again! keep doing the video I believe it’s inspiring so many people!

I fished very casually throughout my childhood but didn't really have any fisherman in my family either. Started taking it more seriously about a year and a half ago and now it's my favorite hobby by far.

This is awesome. Luckily my Dad taught me how to fish from a young age, and it was always one of my favorite things to do. I also want to echo that I have noticed there are more and more people in the sport who look down on others because they feel superior to them— I just had a bad experience this morning. It is a bit of a daily ritual for me to get up early and fish the area around the boat ramp in my town at dawn. It’s a secluded area so there is usually no one around. This morning, a truck pulled up with a bass boat on the back, and the two guys hopped out. They immediately started laughing at me/making comments about me behind my back. Admittedly, it made me feel bad and instead of sticking around and getting angry about it, I left. I had to come back to this video to vent about it. Thank you for having such a good influence on the fishing community.

That’s awesome my man I like your content. You explain fishing very accessible and not overwhelming, your nephew will remember this!

The same thing happened with me, my dad loves the outdoors but thinks fishing is cruel my uncle taught me fishing when I was 11 and now Im 15 and am teaching him stuff I learned. The way I know so much about fishing now is youtubers like you taught me all I know and helped me find my favorite thing to do. All i gotta say is thanks for teaching me

Almost made me cry. My dad was too busy working all the time to be an expert and learn so much for me. Picked up fishing more since I was older and could go do it on my own and now I share the stuff I know to him because he has time now. Don’t ever be upset when your family has time for you, yeah he could’ve done this or that to be more present when I was younger but he just couldn’t, so he’s offering time now and it’s really fun. I don’t remember much when I was a kid anyways and it’s really cool that we are building our adult relationship with stuff we left off when I was a kid. Patience is key to fishing and to life. Sometimes you have to be patient even when you don’t want to. Same with fishing
