I agree. Not a joke. I wasted my entire years of life doing drugs and drinking. 22 to 39.
I had nothing at the age of 39. Well I'm 58 yrs old now. I own a home, have a career job, got married. Have a wonderful wife.
It all started at 39 Yrs old. I also play guitar. That's why I watch your channel.

At 15, being a singer-songwriter was an impossible dream. I'm almost 71 now. Four years ago I started writing songs and performing. Next month I'll perform 14 original songs and 10 covers at a coffee shop.

I'm 60; was forced to 'retire' at 55 (could not live on what they gave me), and now I'm working on a number of avenues including music, writing/publishing, YouTube, and contracting. I learn something new every day, and I expect to do so until I die.

You’re never too old. In fact this stuff is what keeps you YOUNG.

This is true.
That’s why it’s important to build up the foundation and be disciplined enough to consistently reach a desire in life.

Thank you Rick. I really needed to hear this. I started playing drums when I was 12 years old. I could already play simple beats and keep time. I immediately joined a band with a couple of high schoolers from the neighborhood. I played with many bands straight through my 20’s. It went nowhere. So I picked up the guitar in my late 20’s. I got tired of having no say in song writing. I did this till my early 30’s when I became disillusioned with music and the music scene in general. Fast forward to 6 months ago. I’m married now, own a home, and have disposable income. I begin to miss playing. So I start buying gear, nice gear, and set up a small studio in my spare bedroom. My guitar skills have increased dramatically, better than ever, and I have a real passion for writing and recording my songs. But sometimes I feel that it’s all just so silly because of my age (48). But it’s not silly. I’m doing what I love and am good at. Thank you for your inspiring words.

I hadn’t realized you started this channel on my birthday. 49 now, and still learning and trying new things.

So true! Three years ago, I turned 43. I hadn’t touched a musical instrument since the recorder in grade school. Always wanted to learn guitar, but thought I was too old. I got up some courage, walked into my local guitar store and told them I wanted to learn guitar but had no idea how. Bought a guitar, signed up for weekly lessons. Three years later, I’m still practicing and playing every day, taking lessons, made some great friends with other players, and even performed live this summer in front of a crowd. Most importantly, it gives me a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction. My biggest learning is that as adults, we are not used to being really bad at something. If we are, we avoid it. If you can just get over that, there’s a lot of things to enjoy in life.

*_So many people need to not only hear this, but BELIEVE IT. Don’t let the dogmatic philosophies of society convince you to be mediocre. We are all capable of greatness at any age._*

At 47 I learned how to play guitar. At 43 I went back to school. I believe it's the strength within the person and great support that helps do whatever you want, no matter the age.

As a 32 year old finally starting to get into recording and composing I appreciate hearing this from someone getting in the game late.

I'm about to turn 66, and now that I'm retired, have decided to return to live performing after decades of putting it off. But instead of my usual vocals spots in the back, I've stepped out to the center stage mic and begun to develop my skills as a front man.

The fact that the feedback so far has been extremely positive and encouraging is enough reason to keep on pushing to see where I can go!
