I enjoyed The Memory Police so much. I listened to it, and it was an amazing listen.

I love books like the uninhabitable earth where you can learn a lot but it also reads somewhat like a thriller - whats the most scary is how real and tangible it is because it obviously happening

love that edition of Wild Swans!
I'm even more intrigued about The Uninhabitable Earth now, even though it also gives me anxiety.

I remember reading the Devotion of Suspect X years ago and actually forgot I read it. Now I feel like I want to reread it because I remember really liking it. Also I need to pick up the memory police. That one sounds scary.

Thanks for the reviews! The inhabitable Earth sounds very interesting! I just finished reading The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See. It's a historical fiction novel that follows two friends in South Korea spanning from early WWII through 2008. And I've just started The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn.

I highly recommend reading We Are The Weather by Jonathan Safran Foer. He talks a lot about climate change and the realities of what we all can do to help improve the state of the planet. The book focuses on harm reduction, and he approached the topic from a very humble perspective.

Hi Alice! Loved your video - especially your review of Heidi Helene Sveen's book. Do you know if the author plans to release an English version or has one released? Thank you :)

I felt the exact same way about The uninhabitable earth although I also thought it was too repetitive in places. What I thought it was missing most though was hope. I know it’s a dire situation but I feel like it could have expanded on the recent work of activists and the support they’re getting (especially from the younger generation) and the impact that this will and could have. His book is mostly made up of forecasting so I think there could have been room to include something at least a little hopeful? I’ve also just read the memory police and absolutely loved it. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!

I'm planning on starting The Devotion of Suspect X right after I finish my current read, which will probably be today.

Great selection...as always! :-)

Thank you for straight-from-the-heart reviews and thoughts. I am looking forward to picking up The Uninhabitable Earth soon.

I picked up one of you many invaluable recommendations (from your Nov 2017 video, which also introduced me to 'The Phantom Atlas') few days ago: THE LOST WORDS. I have to say, it is one of the most beautiful books I have read in a while. It's a treasure!

Have you read 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear (or any other Zamonia books) by Walter Moers?

The Devotion of Suspect X was a fun read but the sequel, although a fast read, wasn't worth the time. For reference, Higashino's first name is pronounced as Kay-go and last name is as Hee-gash-ee-no with the 'a' being a soft sound and all the syllables carrying the same weight and tone. Memory Police was a great read. Enjoy!

I'm reading _The Uninhabitable Earth_ now and I'm tremendously depressed.

I am currently reading "Det var ikke voldtekt" and I am just in a constant state of shock and disgust. I had no idea rape myths were still a thing in Norwegian courts, and I am mad about it.

I'm so confused about the global warming issue. There are many different "specialists" with very different opinions. The 2006 docu of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth proved to be not a truth at all...or at least not yet? See, it's so confusing.
