We took a family trip by car half way across the country one year only to find out after 2 days of driving that a relative had passed away and we had to drive back for the funeral. Ruined our vacation. Honestly if I ever die during someone's family trip go ahead and finish your trip first then do the funeral...it's not like I'll care I'll be dead.

As someone who always took road trip vacations in a station wagon with our family and my Mom’s Mom as a kid, this movie really did an exceptional job satirizing the absurdity of the entire experience. This scene became a running joke with my Dad during every trip, and my Mom and Grandma would always reply by threatening to tie him to the bumper, like Clark did with Aunt Edna’s dog, first. Those were better days.

The purse tied up with her is the best.

Clark’s “woohuhuhuhu!” at 0:43 used to destroy all my family and friends with laughter hahaha 😂🤣. Never gets old. Such a hilarious sound indicating that he is spooked out/grossed out. I love that he did it again in Christmas Vacation for the squirrel scene lmao.

Ah the 80s, when literal 30 year olds played moms and dads! Beverly D'Angelo was 31 in '83

Whenever Clark says "It's not like it's going to rain, " I'm always like "Guess again, Clark."

Love the Castle Thunder Sound Effects for the Thunderstorm Scene. Love the 80s. Great movie.

I think the stress of riding in that big station wagon with Clark overwhelmed Aunt Edna and she died.

Chevy Chase is the best. The way he subtlely overreacts to situations

0:42 - 0:44 FINALLY! I was hoping someone would upload this scene for over a decade! That sound is one of the funniest things ever!
