I'm so tired of people not valuing other's time. I work in retail. I work from 8-6pm. We close at 6pm. Everyday someone comes in at 6 and expects me to stay late to help them. I have a family, I have plans, I have dinners to make.

I once had someone bring their child to an appointment at my office 2 hours after the scheduled appointment and all she said was “what does it matter? Your still gonna see her anyway, just check her in.” I had never felt so disrespected before than and that’s when I realized some parents are genuinely horrible people

She might have cushioned this with a nice cup of coffee for the teacher also … I have had so many parents show up with a coffee fir me to their parents teacher conferences and it’s so nice to feel appreciated

I remember my 5th grade teacher Mrs. Hacker would stay an hour after school to help her students with reading problems so they could keep up with the class and I was one of those students my stepmother hated so must that I would get home at 4:45pm instead of 3:30pm and would whoop my butt for being late but even more so if I failed any of my classes. But to this day I really do appreciate her taking that hour out of her time to help her students and she also started a reading program that got other teachers involved and my best friend at the time is now a teacher because of what she did for us.

It’s an unfortunate reality that teachers are not valued today. Unless your family has educators in it and they know their value it’s impossible to get most people to understand.
