as someone of african descent, the durag situation shouldnt have cost the teacher her job. an unfolded durag, especially worn around a neck, does look quite peculiar. they are normally worn very tightly and wrapped around someones head, so i can see where the confusion came from. i hope she is doing well tho

I generally sympathise with teachers. Its a tough job, but alot of these its hard to give them the benefit of the doubt as they don't seem to apologise revisebthier approach after making a mistake, which suggests willful ignorance.

Yeah I think its completely unfair for that teacher with the durag to catch that much hate. Some people just aren't aware of what things are, especially since she's white. I'd definitely be upset if she lost her job over something so small. She wasn't being racist or culturally insensitive, that would require intent.

These teachers are reckless out here, on power trips because kids have no choice but to do what they say. They act like cops do; give anyone a lick of power over someone else and they don't know how to act. The one who took that kid's durag shouldn't be apologizing to TikTok, she should be apologizing to the kid she took it from. I highly doubt her story.
