Kate Bush - And Dream of Sheep (Live) - Official Video

This is a special piece of film to accompany the release of the live single ‘And Dream Of Sheep’. The vocal was performed live while filming Kate lying in the huge water tank at Pinewood Studios. This was to create a sense of realism, as the character in the song is lost at sea. However it became more realistic than Kate had imagined. She spent so long in the water during the first day of filming that she contracted mild hypothermia. She recovered after a day off and carried on filming. Everyone agreed it had added to the authenticity of the performance. This film was then projected onto a large oval screen which hung above the stage during the performances of her live show.

Cannot articulate accurately the effect this song has in my life. From a gangly 13 year old falling asleep on the train with this in my ears, to a nearly 50 year old man looking for comfort. Soundtrack well lived.

I sat on the beach some years ago when things weren't going so well. Listening to the radio and this came on. Oddly therapeutic and lifted me out of the gloom. I keep it for those moments now. It's calming and reaches into your soul I guess. I'll shut up now.

Oh, Kate- if you only knew how your music's been a life vest over the years.

My sister was a life long fan of Kate Bush, thought she was a genius and I can't argue with that. The week before my sister passed I sat with her in the Hospice playing Kate Bush songs, this is what she asked for along with Don't Give Up with Peter Gabriel. Wherever you are Mel I hope you're playing Kate Bush back to back and dancing in the sky with Angels. ❤

This song might have saved my life. It was early September last year and I reached the lowest point in my life, shocked and dismayed by events reaching back to May that year. I almost did something life threatening to myself but this song kind of pulled me back from the brink, from the edge of the cliff. I love Kate Bush with every last drop of my heart, as a woman and as a great artist ever since I discovered her music as a 12 year old boy. All the love Kate ❤

I am a 25-year-old man. Lost at times, but still fighting. But songs like Miss Kate’s have been my fortress. She’s amazing, and I wish I knew her sooner. Man, I was born in a wrong time!

Ma mère, gravement malade, était proche de la mort . Je vous écoutais encore et encore .
Merci à vous, Kate de m’avoir accompagné dans mes sanglots ❤

I can't listen to this without weeping my heart out. It's the most beautiful poem for loss. Tuned in to mourn my cat Poppy, tragically killed yesterday. I wrapped her in wool when we buried her so the sheep can keep her warm and take her. May she sleep and dream of sheep.

This song always breaks my heart. It was my go to song when i was going through some of the worst and vilest abuse in my little young life at the time. I needed to drift away from the experience i was encountering at the moment just so i could survive. I wore the hell out of my Hounds Of Love cassette tape just in the first two years after it's release. I didn't revisit the album until decades later when emi released it as a special booklet with a bonus cd. But I was able to put away those horrible experiences and found joy and love and laughter and because I had survived and I was stronger now, than I was at that time. Thank you, Kate Bush.

At 63 now this song has and will always reduce me to tears. The lyrics, subject, Kate's voice are all a bit much. It is simply beautiful. Her early albums represent such a special time in my life. I hadn't listened to Kate's music for quite some time but now I'm back. Who also could forget "Breathing" such a song of the time.

The whole of that 2nd side of the album is a triumph in talent, communication and music.

I sometimes find it difficult to listen to her music simply because of the emotional investment it entails. Her music is so powerful that it can be emotionally exhausting and that's not a criticism, I dont know any other artist who can do this. She's amazing.

The original album version is probably the most exquisite vocal I've ever heard, and this version by older Kate in a lower register still sounds fabulous. I've given strict instructions to my daughter to play this at my funeral, otherwise I'll come back and haunt her lol.

Yes, I do know what the Ninth Wave suite is all about, but the line "Let me be weak, let me sleep, and dream of sheep" just makes my brain go all wibbly wobbly.

Amazing song from what for me, at least, is her best album

I adore Kate's deep, aged voice. She's given us so many wonderful octaves.

I went to watch a show called "An evening without Kate Bush" and it has changed my life. I knew of Kate Bush growing up but never really felt the vibe back then. Now in 2024 I have fallen in love with this amazing ladies music.

Never was a huge Kate Bush "fan", over the years. Respect her vocal chops and songwriting, but couldn't get with the stage musical 'singsongeyness' of a lot of her hits. Then I randomly click on this video, out of morbid curiosity of not having seen Kate or her work in 15+ years. Not even a minute in and tears are welling up. I'm not even consciously thinking about the damn song! No prior exposure to it. Take it from a 'non'-Kate fan: This woman has something otherworldly emoting powerfully from her soul.
