Ragnarok // The Most Difficult Via Ferrata in Europe

Показать описание
Or so I was told by the internet. I will say it was the most physically demanding Via Ferrata I've ever done. I also need to add that yes, I know, I should be using the approved via ferrata kit. However, I chose not to, but that doesn't mean you should. In this episode Tyson and I head to Loen, Norway to sample more of Norways majestic beauty. Tyson takes the Loen Skylift while I take on the Ragnarok Via Ferrata. Our plan is to meet at the top of the climb, then head to the summit of the mountain together.

I love that music you use. It really became part of MA. Please never change it!

You don't have gear that will ensure you live but are just injured... You have gear that can literally kill you.

Falling even a short distance on dyneema slings is a terrible idea.

There's a reason Via Ferrata kit exists.

Your gear will not ensure you live. If you had even a small fall there is a high chance that your tether would break. There are plenty of videos showing fall forces and the impact.

The only thing your tether is good for is what it is designed for … going in hard to a fixed point.

Oh man! I just watched the ancient Mt. Whitney video because I was jonesing for a MA vid. Woohoo! And my invite to Northern Norway still stands, Danny.

Dude, what the heck? There’s a store right in town where you can rent the correct dynamic via ferrata kit. You need to go there to pay anyway. It’s not like you’re doing an A/B via ferrata.

USING A SLING + CARABINEER LIKE THIS FROM YOUR HARNESS ON A VIA FERRATA IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CAN EASILY BREAK AND KILL YOU OR BREAK YOUR BACK.

Long story short, those slings are not meant to absorb shocks and a fall where you are slightly above where you have clipped into the metal cabling could break it. Also putting a knot in the sling reduces it's overall strength of the sling by something like 40 or 60 percent, so it could break even easier on a fall. I'm an avid watcher of MA and adore your content, pretty pls use real via ferrata kit or just free solo it, using gear which probably won't save you in a proper fall can give you false confidence and lead to falling to your death <3

Blimey, is that just 2 slings? That's a tad risky, they're not designed to be shock loaded. Anyhow, love the videos i'm an avid watcher x

Having spent most of my life on the west coast of Norway, I can second that you do reach a waterfall ejoyment saturation point.

Incredibly beautiful! My palms were sweating watching you climb Danny, the camera angles were vertigo-inducing 😂. Absolutely amazing. I’ve loved seeing Tyson in these ❤ Thanks for another great video!

You are insane to climb the via Ferrara without proper gear. If you fall the rope would snap. For sure

Safety should always come first! Only engage in such activities if you have the experience, endurance, and proper equipment. You only have one life, and even if you get injured, it can take time for help to arrive or for anyone to notice that something has happened to you.

Did I hallucinate ? I seems that you're connected to the the life line using regular dynema slings without energy dissipater !?

What a beatiful route. If I'm not mistaken, are you only using two dyneema slings? Is this how feeling immortal looks like? 😅

Ferrata higher than C/D are not interesting for me anymore. because up to that point you can freeclimb most of it on the rock. At a higher grade you have to pull on the cable which isn't fun at all then
