Me with my 93 s10: "I don't know such weaknesses"

He should give a year range, The 2000 era trucks were pretty dependable. My 96 Silverado 3/4 has over 300k with original trans/motor and i used it to haul a trailer often. After i got about 150k i babied it, slow off the line. It does work, keep that wear off first and second gear. I see these 4 bangers newer cars and people launching them every light in such a hurry to go to the drive through... and i think well in a few years, or less, they will be replacing that trans and blaming the manufacturer. Drive with some sense, things go further.

To some people, the fix for $3k makes more sense than spending $20-$50k on getting a different vehicle.

Here's another reason why their Transmissions fail because people pull trailers with the overdrive on your supposed to turn it off

Glad my brother in law is a mechanic & has his own shop. My automatic transmission in my Chevy truck went out at 189K miles. I bought it new with 6 miles on it in 2004. It's cheaper to throw a rebuilt transmission in it for cheap! Other than that EVERYTHING works & it's NOT for sale! I drive it everyday.

I have an 08 Silverado, the same body style as the one in the video with 260, 000 miles. Original transmission and have never changed the fluid and it’s still running.

My LLY duramax has 340, 000 miles and the trans shows no signs of giving out ANY time soon. Still shifts like a dream.

just get a used transmission.. not all problems need to be fixed they can just be replaced for a hell of alot cheaper..

It depends on the year. Bought my '05 new and it currently has 190K on it and still drives like new. I keep it maintained and I've seen used ones for sale with 300 - 400K miles on them. At the rate I drive, it'll last me another 15 years at least.

I had my transmission rebuilt at 120, 000 miles in my 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD.

How many of those transmissions that went out at 150, 000 miles had the fluid and filter changed every 50, 000 miles or before?

Bought mine with about 70k and she’s sitting at over 322k. 03 Silverado 6.0 original engine and trans

My 2005 (owned since new and well maintained) has 230, 000 km (142, 000 miles) on it. The transmission is the least of my worries. The body is totally rusted out and the electrical problems are never ending. Also the aluminum rims hate to hold air in cold weather.

That's just another reason that older is better. 30 years ago this month, I bought a new 1994 K1500 extended cab, 4x4, Z71, throttle body 350 wirh a 4L60E (wish I ordered it with an SM465 instead) with the towing package and 3/4-ton 14 bolt rear differential. I lost 3rd and 4th gear at 260, 000. But since it's the only major repair I've done in 30 years, I'm not complaining!

My father has a 2000 3/4-ton Silverado with a 4L80E with 140, 000. I hope his transmission lasts more like mine instead of the ones you've worked on!

Especially the 8 speed transmission. My dad's transmission is already going out in his 2016 Yukon Denali. Only has 83k miles with mostly highway mileage and he doesn't tow much.

Yes, he is correct. I’m a transmission mechanic. We had a 2019 Chevy 1500 6 speed(6L80) come in with 90k on it and it needed a trans rebuild please. Buy a Ford they are built so much better. We get about 5 6lL80 a week at our shop. Stop buying GM products.

Bought an '05 Silverado with 250k miles on it in 2017. Used it for heavy pulling. Tree work 6 days a week for 7 years. It now has 322k miles, and despite having replaced the transmission, it's still a beast. Rarely does it have problems besides a crappy a/c. I've made well over a million dollars with exclusively that truck. It's my daily driver to this day. If it ain't broke, don't go into debt to fix it.

In Dubai, a company bought hundreds and swapped the junky automatic with some manual transmission. My dad bought one and it has over 400, 000 kilometers and still runs great
