Listen to the man, with 23 years as owner operator I've been there done that.
Just remember one thing, just because you buy new truck 160k or more, does not mean shippers will pay you more than a used 40k, 50k, 60k used truck. And even before buying the rig, make sure you have work for that truck.

Ryan for a guy that has only been a O/O for a few years your well seasoned in this business. And your absolutely right as these trucks get more advanced they will make it harder to delete things on the semi.

Very informative. As an Entry Level Driver, this was priceless…. You just don’t get this info in schools.

I always believed Cummins truly is for the "working man" that's why they don't charge for service info and they want that relationship to be GREAT. . . so that you'll come back and buy a newer truck down the road when/if you need to. EXCELLENT business model 👏 👌

Thanks Ryan, because of you and your channel (this video in particular) I made a good purchase on my 1st. truck. I made sure that I purchased a truck with an APU installed since it went into service. 2ndly. I ensured to have a pre purchase inspection (3rd. party technician present) done on the truck before I signed the deal.👍🏾
The truck has 627, 839 miles, with engine hours of 13, 339.55 thanks to the APU.
Technically, if the truck didn't have an APU, the engine hours might've been in the lower 20, 000's. With hours within the 20, 000-25, 000 range, I'd have little to no time before the truck would require a rebuild. Again, thanks for your content.

I live in the Chicago area and would love to be able to connect up with someone honest and as knowledge as you are. I'm a company driver without any mechanical abilities which is my barrier to becoming owner/operator. I love your channel and enjoy watching although much of what you share is a little over my head. Wish you all the continued success and God bless.

Best thing to do if buying a used Semi is to take it to a competent mechanic shop for a full inspection, but it helps if you're already a mechanic and know exactly what to look for... Good stuff!

Something that needs to be mentioned, just because you have a Cummins in a Kenworth doesn’t mean you can go to a Peterbilt for repairs, especially if they need ECM programming. I learned the hard way. I had to pay Peterbilt AND THEN Kenworth to uninstall the Peterbilt program and then update the Kenworth program in my 2020 T680.

I was in a traffic jam of mostly trucks on an uphill grade because a truck got stuck on the ice. A tow truck towed it out of the way, then everyone could get going, then I passed 3 stuck trucks with wheels spinning, all with supersingles. I believe the reason supersingles didn't exist on otr trucks until 15 years ago is because they lack traction, and are, therefore, unsafe.

I had a 6x2 T660 with super singles when I worked for CFI and that thing would get stuck on dry gravel. It was ridiculous.
