Drivers had a tricky time in Charleston, West Virginia, due to flooding on Thursday, April 11, as the National Weather Service (NWS) had flash flooding warnings in place for areas of central and southern West Virginia. The footage here was captured by Darell Williams as he drove on Interstate 64. The NWS said “numerous roads” were closed by the flooding. #flood #flooding #westvirginia #charleston #i64 #shorts

This is my hometown of Charleston, WV. In early April 2024, 17 tornadoes were reported in the area. Keep in mind the terrain is hilly, not flat like in the Midwest. Chareston and the Kanawha Valley are located on the Western edge of the Allegheny Mountain range. Power was out for some people 2 to 3 days. Approximately 1 week later, the Charleston area was hit by heavy thunderstorms, as much as 3 inches fell in one hour. This is the result of that storm.

I live here and got home from work not long before this flooding started. I had to get a brand new roof, and so did my parents. Had no electricity for 4 days. I work at a hospital in Charleston, and it was crazy trying to drive home the day these tornadoes and the rainstorm hit. My brother in law was stuck in this flooding here in this video, near the Greenbrier Street exit. He sent a video and a picture to us. It was crazy!

It’s insane. 17 tornados, in the extremely hill ridden area of Charleston, and the fact is we usually get TWO. A year.

For the love of humanity, people stop driving through FLOODED ROADS. if you are at work Stay there. I don't care if you wanna make it back home to your family it isn't worth driving through a flooded roadway

This same thing happened in downtown Huntington, WV back in 2021. Lived there for the entirety of 2021, experienced 2-3 major ice storms and a huge flood that closed most major roads through the city. Safe to say I moved after 2021 😂

That’s actually considered one of the deadliest roads in WV. TONS of big trucks wreck close to there because of the twists & turns & mountains and speed. But I’ve never seen it like THAT in my 48yrs!!!! 😮 I was flooded at my rural home. Took out the road and mailboxes with it! It was a storm like we haven’t had in exactly 21yrs! The day my beautiful babyboy came into the world!♥️
