"The ne're-do-well ambitions come out" really cracked me up. Thanks Sean.

Great video!

These kinds of lessons are perfect for opening up the sonic palette.

Also, I'm really glad Sweetwater sent you that Luna parlor guitar. I've actually really been looking for a parlor guitar lately. I hope they send you a few others, and you do a video like this one with them. It was very informative to see how it played in an informal setting. Thanks for the video!

It’s so hard to say who is “The Best” on-line guitar teacher. So, I look at it more like if I hit the lottery, who would be a good fit for me? Sean and Stitch are at the top of my list!

Very cool way to look at it. It never occurred to me to think about even though I do frequently visualize triads on the both the top and bottom strings. I just never thought about keeping those high string open in one chord position. I like the effect and the F and G major chords played this way with the ringing high E string remind me of the band America.

I too play my parlor guitar, when I'm just kicking it in my living room. It's a 1971 Yamaha FG-75 Red Label. I sanded it's neck radius using a template I got from StewMack to emulalte a 1954 Les Paul, as they both share the same 1st fret width of 1.705" When things do get serious, The Martin dreadnought comes out. But I dig the parlor guitars as the size allows playing without a guitar strap around your back. The parlor is a great writing guitar and those songs get perfected with my other higher end guitars.

Some of these chords sound a bit like some chords in open tunings. Modal maybe? These open chord shape lessons make my front porch strumming sound a lot more sophisticated. I do think consistently full strums can sound messy. Some of that is nice, but breaking it with your partial strums - low strings/higher strings makes it sound super educated.

Genious and simple to apply - just moving up and up from one to six chord

It's not your technique or skill. It's just the guitar sounds awful. Like a childs guitar in the Toy Isle at Walmart.
