Nice summary-thanks. I think when learning chess openings it is good to start with what I call the big 4-5 (4-5 as I add 1.f4 which is pretty optional to look at?!) eg 1.e4/1.d4/1.c4/1.Nf3/1.f4. Choosing to learn a main line opening with these moves with both colours I feel will help anyone improve at chess & become a good player. Other openings are available if you have time to look more. Play what you enjoy & what suits your chess style & you are good imho! Happy chess all ;-)

I usually play hippopotamus defense, birds opening or ruy lopez (Im not too good though, sadly)

I like to play queen's gambit but now I'm learning the Italian as it's the one I like to play the most against when I'm black. I'm just 1100 ELO btw, so still struggling playing against a lot of openings

With white pieces I usually play e4, especially the italian or the scotch gambit.
