Carlota de Café Recipe #shorts

I recently made a Carlota de Durazno, and so many of you asked for a coffee version—so here it is: Carlota de Café! 😋 If you love light, no-bake desserts that come together quickly, this treat is for you. 🥰

CARLOTA DE CAFE INGREDIENTS:
► 8 oz room temperature cream cheese
► 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
► 2 tsp vanilla extract
► 1/2 tsp cinnamon
► 12 oz your favorite strong coffee
► 3 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream
► Galletas Marias (used about 2 packages)
► 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
► 1 tsp instant coffee

My Italian friends up in Toronto used to call this dish "a poor man's Tiramisu." This is cheaper and slightly easier to make than Tiramisu.
I've made this dessert several times. There are many variations of it out there.
Here are the changes I make:
1.-The cocoa powder that goes on top should be unsweetened.
2.-I only use 3/4 of the cream cheese and between 1/2 and 3/4 of the condensed milk. Less heavy and less sweet.
3.-I also add 1/4 to 1/3 coffee liqueur (Tía María, Irish Bayleys, etc.).
4.-I use espresso coffee for the cream.
5.-I add 1 tspn almond extract.
Feel free to adopt and adapt this recipe. Make it your own.

My Aunt ✝️ used to make Carlota coffee for us, her version was slightly different yet delicious. The cream had the same ingredients but not the coffee. The liquid coffee was used to soak every Maria cookie. The assembly pattern was: cream layer, wet cookies, more cream and then some lines of strawberry jam. More cookies, cream, jam, and so on. The last layer of cream was decorated with instant coffee sprinkled.

Im from arizona, and Im baffled Ive never heard of this before. Maria cookies are hands down one of my favorite things ever. So good with coffee or hot coco, and absolutely divine with a mocha.
All of these ingredients are not expensive at all. I know what Im buying next time I go to Food City.

Thank you for sharing! I’d love to make this for my sister. She doesn’t like coffee so instead I think I want to make the liquid rose tea 🫖 and layer it with edible rose petals and pistachios. She lives far from me so I’ll have to wait to make it. I pray it comes out good. Thank you. ♥️
