As a current college student, DO NOT USE COMMAND STRIPS (unless your walls are made of brick/concrete) most people are not able to remove them properly and end up peeling the paint which will result in fees being charged to your school bill. Instead, use thumbtacks and fill the holes with bar soap at the end of the year, OR my personal fav now: blue-tac or some other kind of molding putty to stick things to your wall without damage!

11:16 I disagree on decor, many of my friends and I have had the experience of getting seriously depressed in our dorms bc of the hospital vibes they were giving; then I covered the walls and added some nicknacks here or there having decor in a dorm doesn’t have to be a no go, you can make sure you have the space for essentials and work around that to help yourself thrive in your space. I recommend if you do want to do lots of decor just start slowly pack stuff up a few weeks to a month ahead of move out and, if you live a distance that isn’t too bad (like me I’m an hour out) you can do trips bringing things home so it won’t be so much to worry about in the end of the semester:)

amazon has candle warmers so you don’t actually have to light the candles but also if you have a room check but your candles in a draw because RA's aren't allowed to look in your drawers

what I like to do (even just at home) is using those 3 in one body wash, shampoo and conditioner things. I don't care if it has kids labels and stuff but it was so much easier that having 3 extra bottles and easier to label so your roommates (or siblings in my case) don't use your toiletries. I will warn you that it doesn't work for everyone but it works for me and I hope this tip helps someone
