Couple questions.

1. Do you use neutralizer/soak plants before and/or after pre/post treatment?
2. When using degreasers and rust removers, do you mix those in with your bleach mixture, or do them separately?

Right on the money, Mike.
I always wet down the grass about 2 or 3 feet from the concrete. Then pre-treat with SH.
Followed by a post water application. No dead grass line along side of the concrete.
I actually watched a company do my friends next door neighbors driveway. He surfaced cleaned the concrete then treated it after with SH. Killed all the grass about 6 to 12 inches on either side.
Next time his neighbor needs it done, he said he'll be calling me.

Can't understand your customers that think bleach harms the environment. The correct concenrration is neutralised by the organics when it oxidises them (mainly reacts to give water). Any over estimation of the mix, though you avoid it and perfer to under estimate, degrades in sunlight. Give these guys a ben duffy when they ask about your chems... "We understand your concern and will quote without chems for you. But, if you decide on using bleach to decrease your maintenance frequency, one thing you can look out for to assess your service providers mix is by looking at your edges before and after. Yellowing or browning of grasses on edges is a sure sign the bleach doesn't need to be that high a concentration. Grasses need acid to just above neutral pH (~6 to 7). Bleach is alkaline and edge grass will look yellower or even brown off <3 days after the application if the mix is too rich for the job. We only need to hit the finer organics like mildew and mosses. It takes a much higher concentration of bleach to kill or injure grasses or other higher plants."

We oxidise 120kg of powdered bleach in ~120M litres of our water every day then discharge to the sea at less than <1ppb free chlorine (the active that kills and cleans). This is quickly oxidised and dissipated to 0 in our discharge drains. We have frogs, dragonfiles and tadpoles happily living in these concrete drain channels. The pigeons love it! 😎👌😎

I pre and post treat it gives great results. I should try a weaker mix. Charge accordingly for the chemical used it can add up quick.

I hardly ever pre treat. And never post treat. U can really kill grass if not careful. I might use acid if it's bad before, but that all

Hey Mike! I have a question …. Once the post treatment dries (if not rinsing after the post treatment) all that is left is salts, when it rains will these concentrated salts harm plants when it rains and runs off into the garden beds/grass? Thanks for your videos, great to learn from the pro’s!
