My buddy's parents are like this. They have a living room with fancy rugs and a chandelier, fancy couches, etc. All covered in plastic. And the doors are always closed and no ones allowed in there. They redid their kitchen. Spent $40k on it. Heated floor and the works. While it was being done, they built a makeshift kitchen in the basement. Afterwards, they never used the main kitchen again to keep it pristine. When you get out of the shower, they have a squeegee you have to take to the shower and surrounding glass. That kind of stuff. Absolutely nuts
