New Endometriosis Treatment is in the Pipeline #hope. Endometriosis is a chronic and often debilitating condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus, known as endometrium, grows outside the uterus. This misplaced tissue can develop on various pelvic organs, such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the lining of the pelvis, leading to inflammation, scarring, and the formation of painful lesions or adhesions. The symptoms of endometriosis can vary widely from person to person but often include pelvic pain, painful menstrual periods (dysmenorrhea), chronic pelvic pain, pain during intercourse (dyspareunia), and infertility. In severe cases, endometriosis can also cause gastrointestinal symptoms, such as bloating, diarrhea, or constipation, and urinary symptoms, such as painful urination or blood in the urine. The exact cause of endometriosis remains poorly understood, and there is currently no cure for the condition. While various theories have been proposed to explain the development of endometriosis, including retrograde menstruation, hormonal imbalances, immune system dysfunction, and genetic predisposition, the underlying mechanisms are complex and multifactorial. Despite significant advances in our understanding of endometriosis and its impact on women's health, treatment options remain limited, and the focus is primarily on managing symptoms rather than addressing the underlying cause of the condition. Pain management is a central component of endometriosis treatment, with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), hormonal therapies, and pain medications often used to alleviate pelvic pain and discomfort. Hormonal therapies, such as birth control pills, hormonal IUDs, or gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists, work by suppressing ovarian function and reducing the production of estrogen, which can help alleviate symptoms and slow the growth of endometrial tissue. However, these treatments are often associated with side effects such as weight gain, mood changes, and decreased bone density, and may not be suitable for all individuals. #endometriosis #endowarrior

I had endometriosis for many years and I know that pain. I had to have a complete hysterectomy and my surgeon told me in 30 years of practice. It was the worst case he had ever seen. He said it looked like someone poured a bag of cement.

Stage 4 endo here. Everything about it was a nightmare. Watching her suffer took me right back to the worst of it. The pain is unimaginable.

The barb wire is accurate. I had chocolate cysts, other cysts and horrible scar tissue. I would wake up in the middle of the night crying it hurt so bad. My gyn told me it was all in my head.

Finally we have a breakthrough. Women shouldn't have to suffer for years on end and given the run around.

I had that. It was unbarely excruciating. Then I got uterine & ovarian cancer...had to have a full hysterectomy. No more pain.

I feel her pain. 😢 I have endometriosis and when I have “an episode” it’s worse than being in actual labor. I don’t wish this on anyone. 😞

I reported my symptoms to several obgyn doctors from the time I was a teenager. I was basically told to "suck it up" by all of them. Not one of them even thought to run any kind of diagnostics. Finally I ended up in the ER in my mid thirties. I was given a referral to a doctor who finally took me seriously. He recommended a complete hysterectomy because of the severity of my symptoms. I finally got my official endometriosis diagnosis when I woke up from the surgery. I'm eternally grateful to him for empathy and for what was unfortunately the only treatment left to me at that late stage of the disease.

I have endometriosis and suffered from it for years before I had a chocolate milk cyst rupture. I'd have period pain that felt like electricity shooting into my back and down my leg. Going to the bathroom was horrifically painful. It was more painful than child birth to me.

*uicide Ideation comes with it, we needed a cure 50 years ago. I hope this isn't super expensive when this drug is released to the public. But after all, USA'a Senante will always vote for higher prices because that means more money in their pocket

For all of us who couldn’t have children or a family… because of endometriosis… I hope they figure it out for other generations.. because generations have lost out on all the joys and hope that a life with children offers.

Endo killed my uterus. Either that or adenomyosis they found.
14 surgeries, the first 12 made me worse each time cuz they did ablation/laser burning instead of actually cutting it out from the roots, excision surgery.
I was bed bound for 7 years because of endo & adeno. This July 15th I celebrated 9 years pain free, due to an emergency hysterectomy on xmas, to remove dead uterus, and an amazing pain medication called buprenorphine thats changed my life. After 20 years of nasty narcotics which didn't work at all, and just killed my brain and made me a different person totally.

Very interesting but also not surprising that the immune system would have to do with it. The fully body inflammations kicking off each time were absolutely no fun. It seems I at least got rid of some of it with my total hysterectomy + salpingectomy and endometrial tissue removal. There's still a lot going on and I'm still figuring things out as we go, but either way, I am always glad to see progress on the topic. Too many women suffered these debilitating pains with little to no support and lots of shaming even!

Thank you so much for raising awareness about IL-8 and its role in endometriosis. I just wanted to add that recent studies have linked Fusobacterium nucleatum, a specific type of bacteria, to increased IL-8 levels in endometrial tissue. Addressing bacterial imbalance might be a future key in managing this condition. Grateful for this valuable content!

Diet can worsen this or help improve it. Inflammatory conditions trives on glucose for example. Sugar and carbs lives on this more then anything else. I found another doctor who said this was very hormonal driven disease. And you can relate both causes for the disease and treatment to it through estrogen or something like that.

I've had to 2 surgeries so far & I'm 28 years old, it's starting to come back again already so this news could actually make me cry. But also in all of my time as a patient I was never told that it has anything to do with the immune system!

And yet the sister disease Adenomyosis is pretty much unheard of. I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis and had no clue what it was, but I was quite familiar with Endometriosis.
