Modern advances in technology have hindered the awareness and development of art theory in reef tank aquascaping.

We're going back to aquascaping school to learn Composition, in particular the Convex, Concave and Triangular Layout Compositions, with examples including my own 12ft Palau Reef build.

Thanks to Frenzy Fish Feeds for being a channel sponsor. Don't forget to enter the Frenzy Fish Feeds giveaway, by commenting what the aquascaping composition I used in my outdoor Australian Turtle and Rainbowfish tank.

Your right on the money with this, I have told so many people, if you don't think of these few rules not only do you waste a lot of your aquarium space but you also can lose a lot of depth, so a nice wide aquarium will just look like any other narrow aquarium, you can even take it one step further if your smart enough you can use the reflection of the sides of your tank to cary on the scape but you really have to be careful how you place things so you can't tell and then it tricks the eye, the rule of thirds is much easier to accomplish if your familiar with photography, that is why professional photographers seem to have awesome photos when the average persons photo looks flat, there are some really good videos on this on here if you watch the professional aquascapers doing their talks or master classes, I do think saltwater and freshwater are both a little different though as most freshwater scapes are based on the bank were a lot of saltwater setups replicate more the coral bommie style in the deep ocean unless you are doing what your doing with the island style, another great video Adam and you just reminded me again about your logo sorry I forgot again 🙂

I think a key challenge for the composition of your upcoming project is that you need to find a way to continue that central island down to the bottom of the tank. If you fill up the area on either side of your concave central pillar you risk making it look "flat" and the island will disappear under the water. My suggestion, for what it is worth, is to make sure you follow that concave gradient right down into the sandbed so you can almost draw out another semi-circle down there. I think this is what you're already thinking with those pipes and the rock reef you've shown us so far. Excited to see this project complete!

You know what would be a unique and awesome for an aquarium idea is having some idiomysis shrimp and a tube anemones tank, I've never seen it done before and don't know if it's possible but I'd love to see someone do it haha

My favourite time of the week he's Backkkk. All good things take time. The turtle tank is triangular sloping from left to right. This video makes me want to tear down my aquascape and start again. I've got a cade s2 2100 7 footer, I'd love to get my hands on boxes of live rock like I had when I started in the hobby. Unfortunately only really had the option of marco with live rock rubble in my sump to seed the tank. Can't wait to see the scape buddy. 🎉🎉

Is the tank at the 5:26 mark saltwater? If it is it totally fooled me, and it looks amazing!

I think offset by 2/3 would have been better... nothing in nature is planned nor symmetrical... also still trying to find vid where you install the glass... I assume you epoxyed the inside corner of 2x4 and plywood and this is to receive the glass corner?
I am considering a piece of aluminum angle on top of the subfloor but under the plywood such that the glass would compression onto the aluminum, simply because i dont trust silicone adhering to epoxy.
