Jeff and I have an incredible team of Agents in the Lake Norman/Charlotte area of North Carolina. We transplanted here from Ohio in 2011 and have been very happy to make Lake Norman our home. If you are considering a move here, already live here and need to buy or sell, get in touch! We would love to make you a part of our lives!

Pollen and bugs😰 Thanks for speaking honestly anyway.

Thank you for actually talking about negative things unlike some people in the comments who rather ignore the truth and just see the good. The good would not exist without the bad.

NC drivers need to realize that because another driver needs to merge over into your lane, they are NOT trying to "cut you off."

Everyone knows how the lanes drop off quickly here and moving and merging is it's NOT personal!

But many drivers insist on running up behind me, blowing their horn, and having a hissy fit even after I signaled my intention, increased my speed (which was already over the speed limit) and moved over as best as I possibly could.

Im mad u put this tarantula on the screen! I jumped in surprise and disgust. Anyway, yes these are the negatives most ppl say, but it's still a good place to live. I like in Raleigh-Durham area. But im certain our traffic isnt nearly as bad as Charlotte

I've lived in NC 22 years and love it. It's not the perfect state as every place has its flaws, but I love that it's very seasonal, you got beaches to the east, mountains west of the state and it's very green and fall is gorgeous here. I live in Cary, the only things I don't like specifically within the Raleigh area are the way some people drive, not everyone but a good number of people here drive like maniacs. If you're going 10 and 15 mph over the speed limit then there should be no reason why a person should feel the need to be all up on someone's bumper as if they aren't going fast enough. Where I'm from that's good way to get into a fight or worse. Other than that no other complaints.

North Carolinians will be more than delighted for you to get on the road in the northbound lane and take yourself back to Ohio. I promise we will not be sad.

My husband and I sold our 2022 Chevy Silverado a few weeks ago. Our auto insurance dropped by $1600 a year. Pollen season in April will make you cry. I've seen clouds of pollen blowing by. Yes, your vehicles will turn yellow. There is no need to wash your vehicle for the whole month of April because it will be covered in pollen the next day. The bugs are terrible. Gnats never stop getting in your face. They don't have a particular season. I've seen a swarm of gnats in December. Heat and humidity! You get out of the shower and you can't tell if you're wiping sweat or water off your body.
I've lived in North Carolina all my life and would never move anywhere else because I love it.

sharing my thoughts, i lived in NC for 9 years, (still going) and ive loved it, the hate this state has is annoying, its been smooth sailing for me, ive basically only seen like 2 people on D, overall, if you want to live good in NC, move to the mountainous regions

April, if you are from Ohio, you have contributed to the traffic/growth/massive apartments being built everywhere problem! Please tell people North Carolina is full 😂. When people are told a location is the promised land, they swarm it like locusts and eventually change the conditions that make the area a promised land (California is a perfect example). The heat and humidity don't bother me having grown up here nor do the big bugs, snakes etc. I prefer the heat and humidity to the brutal Ohio winters! In terms of the pollen, it typically is only a problem for two weeks. In terms of allergies, you may want to consider zinc and quercetin, which are over the counter supplements. I had bad spring allergies until I started taking zinc and quercetin.

In Charlotte half the people go to church while the other half steal their cars.

Don't forget there's more Confederate flags flying than American flags.

The heat and humid is horrible. It feels like an oven. It can be 70 degrees. But it’s hot with no breeze. It’s just hot air. I never seen big bugs in Charlotte. However, Raleigh has a horrible palmetto / roach problem.

Not being negative, just giving a different point of view. We bought a place here15 years ago from upstate NY. The traffic has gotten crazy all over, when we go back to visit, it's just as bad there. The humidity in NY is worse than down here, it can get pretty hot there, but it feels hotter even when the temperature isn't as high, because it's so humid. The pollen was just as bad covering our vehicles in NY. My allergies as well as my son's allergies have been a lot better down here, to the point where I rarely use medicine anymore. I think a lot of that is because it doesn't get as much snow and rain here, so there is less mold spores in the air. Now as for bugs... I hate bugs, we didn't have palmetto bugs or fire ants, which was great, but there were many times the mosquito's would litterally swarm us, you could rarely go outside without getting eaten alive. I think we've seen less than 5 mosquito's since we moved here, and we're outside all the time. Which is another big plus for living down here. We rarely had a string of pleasant days up there, it was either way too cold, or too hot and humid. I wouldn't complain at all.

What I hate about NC is this
1. Bad drivers
2. Engineering for roads are bad
3. Too many apartment being build everywhere
4. Have to pay extra taxes for things you don’t own or pay a county tax in certain places
