The biggest mistake he ever made was attempting to pick up a chair when Kiryu had full heat.

Just a reminder that Kiryu was 20 at this point.

Shibusawa: "I AM THE DRAGON OF DOJIMA!"

I love how Shibusawa is dressed in black, Kiryu in white, doing justice to the chapter name 'Black and White'. Later on, after the battle, Kiryu realises that the Yakuza world as well as he does not fit into the whole black or white thing and chooses the gray path instead, with his iconic gray suit.

What's cool about Shibuzawa is that through the entire first half of the story he's just quietly watching behind Kuze and Awano while they're being loud and in your face about how they're hot shit. Then once he sees his chance he grabs it and nearly effortlessly succeeds in capturing the Empty Lot's owner and Dojima's favour, all the while not making any particular spectacle of himself.

Textbook definition of a man of action, not words.

Yakuza 0 convinced me that all those game awards shows are bullshit.

You know Yakuza has done a perfect job building a world with consistent rules when the MOMENT you see the dragon tattoo on Shibusawa’s back you know you’re in for a badass fight. Audibly gasped when I saw it.

0:00~1:46 rush style.
2:00~3:04 beast style.
3:15~4:27 legend or brawler style.

The best part about this fight is that matching the style Shibusawa uses (Rush -> Beast -> Dragon) is actually a great strategy and makes the fight look a lot cooler

Imagine the news headlines...
"20 year old real estate agent beats up old man for a plot of land"

"20 year old man becomes most successful real estate agent in one night"

"24 year old man, manager of the Grand Cabaret, becomes most successful cabaret club manager"

"Manager of the Grand Cabaret rampages through yakuza HQ"

"Dojima Clan in ruins, claims 2 men were behind their downfall"

For alot of people this was their first yakuza game which is good because you get context and also one of the best soundtracks for a game ever made.

I really like how well the 3 themes suit the 3 lieutenants:
Kuze: Unyielding, seen as the initial rhythm keeps smashing on no matter what, no melody even, just violently hammering a single note

Awano: Stylish, but vicious, as exemplified by the classical instrumentation beginning with the intense violin part

Shibusawa: Legendary, but obsessed, the triangle beats signifying a fight for the ages, and the melody suddenly stepping up in the last bit, as if to say "I MUST HAVE THIS!!!*

The thing I love about shibusawa as an antagonist is how different in the approach he is from the rest in the series main villains. He is all about business rising in the ranks unlike ryuji, mine, and aizawa didnt go for all around destruction on their paths to the top. He was all about serving his incompetent and all around horrible boss building his path until one day he would outshine him and crush the competition. Had kazuma not been such a beast he probably would have taken over the tojo in the near future whilst retaining the structure it already had.

From the perspective of the yakuza in the 80's, here are what each of the lieutenants represent:
Kuze:The Yakuza of the past
Awano:The Yakuza of the present
Shibusawa:The Yakuza of the future

Shibusawa gets the furthest to achieving his goal because that is what the yakuza is like today

Edit:what the actual fuck happened in the replies

I think the Concept of The Dragon Of Dojima is a coping Mechanism for Shibusawa and all the stuff he did, not only in-game, but also for the things he went through before it. The ending of this theme even ends with some Light Key Notes, akin to a Fairy Tale. When Kiryu defeats him, his fantasy world is destroyed.

That's how I see it anyway...

This fight scene was by far the most epic fight in Yakuza history, when they clashed at the beginning with the writing on the screen, it gave me chills and I knew it was about to go down.
