I just did 5 layers, and it sounds SO GOOD! took a little work to get it unstuck though.

I think the stabs need more work than the space bar itself.

Would be interested to see what this sound differences is after the stabs have been tuned

this reminds me of how the fighting game community would dampen joystick buttons by putting a little bit of cotton in between the button and the switch. It was a common practice that players would listen to each other's button presses so they can anticipate certain attacks. This is kind of similar, lol

At this point we might as well put foam and tape into literally anything in the keyboard, and it will sound good.
I literally use the top packing foam from my Keychron V3 as a mat, and it sounds fricking amazing.

The huge empty space between stabilizers and switch is what make space bar sound like that. Filling those empty spaces will make it sound a lot better. Multi layers of tape works, but I'm going with foam and tape for my build.

foam tape works really well in dampening out the spacebar as well with the added benefit of using it inside hollow cases

I use car soundproofing mats. I got a layer at the bottom of the case too. But it also works great inside the spacebar to take out the high pitched sound.

I couldn’t help but notice that the “V” key is where the “C” key is supposed to be

I had some adhesive gasket foam from my gmmk pro left over and used it for this mod and for other larger keys. Worked great

My favourite fixes for this:

A - some good stab tuning (take your time, try it and retry until they sound smoooth. File down the stab housing if needed, use holee mod if you want, or just jam that shit up with dialectric grease)
B - place one or two layers of electrical tape between the two screw inserts for the stabs (where the stab housing contacts the plate)
C - Gum up the spacebar with either silicone putty ear plugs (or something similar) or cut some spare Strips of thickish noise dampening foam out and stick them inside
D - If all this hasnt helped you can either try straightening out your stab wire or placing some band aid or E-tape down where the stab wire makes plate contact to soften the noise a bit more

I used one of those thick gel like double sided tape (the kind you can tape a rug in place) and stacked them in my space bar and now it sounds sooo good. Deep and not hollow at all

I ended up cutting some thin packaging foam and fitting it inside carefully. I used two layers and it sounds a lot better now. I may try one layer of tape together with the foam; was just worried about the inside getting sticky lol

There is a change in the sound for sure. Better or worse - a matter of preference. I would suggest to you trying kilmat (or other sound dampener for cars). It makes a huge difference especially with the tall profiles like SA, OSA, MT3 etc.

When I was 14 I tried to fill an ABS keycap on a cheap "gaming" keyboard with hot glue and it melted 💀

So yeah this or silicone is a great alternative

I just tried doing 4 layers of it and it sould so good. Although now the button press is almost like theres a pillow under my spacebar. If I press it light it barely makes a sound. I would recommend 3 layers, 4 was a little too much but 3 I think is the perfect amount

edit: I pressed down the tape a little bit and now it is better. 4 is fine if you make sure there are ZERO air bubbles, even a small one can make the spacebar sluggish or too quiet

Seems to be common with Keychron keyboards. I had a Keychron K6 Pro. After swapping to different switches, it still had the hollow sound. I am now using a Gamakey TK75 with the same Pegasus switches, and it has zero hollow sound out of the box.

2 layers actual sounds pretty dope, at least on that board!

I used a silicone glue in my large keys. It worked wonders. It worked so well I am thinking about doing it to all keys.
