For the people who struggle with perfectionism: please just start. Just begin putting things down. You can always change it later, you're gonna do great and you're gonna like what you are making eventually. Don't give up if it doesn't work out the first time! You're doing great! I am so bad at planning out how big an area is going to be. So either I have to much space left over or too little and regardless I still die a little bit inside every time it happens

I haven't started it yet, but real life locations are the main inspiration for what might be my first build ^^ In my country we have a lot of small seaside towns and villages lined with pretty pastel buildings and I love this look ^^ Really want to make an area like that ^^

amazing video! that last bit really hit home, as I don't have a theme. It feels like everyone has a theme, and that an island has to have an elaborate theme to be cool, but my island is whatever the heck I want it to be. And I love the ideas. Literally just yesterday I remembered this inspiration tips video I saw online and went and pulled a few things out of storage (a hammock, book, fan thing, and grabbed a candle from my nooks. found an empty spot next to a river/waterfall, Slapped down two cedar trees and two custom designs, put the hammock in between them and put the other stuff around it. boom it's a build.

I don't really much care about the theme for my island, I just make whatever stands out to me. I don't take designing too seriously. I usually just make an island based on a small park or towns that I usually visit in real life and sometimes I may make something that is not related to the theme I started out with, but I didn't care all that much. It was from my imagination and I didn't let other islands bother me all that much. My point is you should make whatever stands out to you and never compare yourself with others.

Some really great ideas here, I'm trying to do a Greek Olympian sort of theme for my island and my inspiration for that was Disney's Hercules which is my favorite Disney animated film. Some of the furniture I want isn't available until later since I'm not that far ahead in the game.

People seem to take designing way too seriously on this game. Just make what stands out to you and that way you don't have to feel too overwhelm by others. Its YOUR island, YOUR imagination, and how YOU see it. Try to challenge yourself into thinking that you are in control of your island and you make it how you see fit. Thats the mindest I went with and it worked out really well.

6:50 Also if you have clothing cutom design space, I have a crafts room in my ACNH house so I made a kimono and mad it look like it was a mannequin with a gown I was making, I did this but putting pins on the design and having chalk marks and fake basting stitches on it.
