This is a self charging solar electric recumbent trike. Running a 500 watt hub motor with 15ah sealed lead acid batteries charging from a 125 watt solar panel through a step up boost controller which converts the solar power to 58 volts charging power at 2amp hours. The trike is built by myself and all power charging system fitted by me. this is only the first stage as i will be adding another 200 watts with an added trailer. When i am done Jessie(my dog) and i will be attempting to travel across Australia. I will be putting up more videos of the build and of my journey so stay tuned to this channel. Hi Shaun. I have my two 100 watt 18 volt solar panels and the MPT-7210a. I am trying to charge my LiitoKala 36 V 6ah 500 W 18650 lithium battery. But no luck yet. It keeps saying OK as if the battry is full or when there is no battery at all.
On the display I don't see any battery. When I try to set the time and battery capacity, I long press SET. But I can't change time and capacity.
Charging with the adapter at 42 volt 52 amp is no problem.

My questions are:
-Is it possible the BMS iisn't compatible with the MPT?
-Can I theoretically charge the battery with the + and - that go to the motor instead of the charging cable?
-Any other ideas? Maybe the MPT is malfunctioning as I can't set time and capacity?

Or I am doing something wrong. Which is more likely.

I had hoped to go on a bike tour next week. Solar isn't essential. But it would be nice if it worked. Maybe you can help me out. Thanks.
