This video got lots of negative comments about his American bias on the original post. Since being on YouTube, I have found a lot of Americans think that British history boils down to "slavery" and trashing India. When every comment he made about British history, could equally apply to the US. Except that the US has kept on doing it into recent times.

Wow, he really did gloss over why the world hates America! After what he said about the UK (Mostly true but historic except for slavery. That has always existed.) he goes on to say the only reason other countries hate the US is because they are rich and pwoerful?! Really?! This US videomaker has just added to exactly why people hate America! That arrogance of ignoring the horrible things the US have done and not just historically. My country loved the US up until the Vietnam War. And then we refused to blindly ally with them ever again. And then there was (and still is) the fact they bullied the heck out of my country and even mooted invading us because we became nuclear free in the 80s? And said that no nuclear capable warships from any country could be in our ports? We still have retaliatory trade tariffs against us because of that. And saying it is primarily jealousy? Geez. Just wow.

When being the wealthiest economically & strongest militarily but a percentage of the population is worse off than those in the third world makes you wonder some...

Well I guessed the top 2 and in the correct order. :)
No surprise when he mentioned Israel, he didn't mention how the USA fully supports them by supplying planes, arms etc.
There are things about the USA he didn't mention either. He made out almost as if people were jealous of it but it's not that.

The man who made the video is so ignorant over just about everything. When it comes to slavery I suggest looking up the origin of the word 'slave' might be a good idea, plus which countries were the last to make slavery illegal.

I think the UK and the US are on the list for pretty much the same reasons. The US basically did in the 20th century what the Brits did in the 19th.

Well, before you decide to hate us Brits, the Romans and Greeks (and plenty of others) had slavery 2000 years before the British Empire ever existed. Secondly, alarm bells should ring when someone is quoting from Last of the Mohicans as if its historical fact. We did plenty of bad things yes, but can people with our sense of humour be all bad?

Can't speak about much of what that guys chatting, but his comment 'the UK was one of the first to bring in slavery' is 100% stupid, slavery existed world wide for 1000's years before the UK and the UK was one of the first to abolish it. I understand that it's a common misconception around the world but doesn't fill me with alot of trust for anything else he says

I would have thought USA, UK and Russia would be 1, 2 & 3 on every list of countries other nations don't for good reason.

He keeps referring to this list but who wrote this list? Where did the list come from? Who exactly says these are the 10 most hated countries in the world?
He should learn to pronounce Iran. That American pronunciation with the I pronounced as if it was a separate letter apart from the word is so annoying to non-Americans.
His comments about the UK are very ignorant and prejudiced.

A lot of this is in the past without an understanding of history. The US suffers from this and not knowing their history. Most blacks do not know that there were black slave owners/traders. That Africans enslaved other Africans for themselves and to sell. Hatred of the British is also due to this. However, who ended world wide slavery, who got into debt ending slavery. The British! Their system of government and legal system has spread around the world. Also do people see how the British treated their own people at the time they were colonising parts of the world? They didn't show any favouritism. Slavery in the form of serfdom existed in Britain during the middle ages. In the Victorian era every city had slum areas were 2 pennies worth of gin was the drug of the day. As Thomas Sowell said, at the time people didn't like being invaded, occupied, whatever, but eons later their development was due to the occupiers who had a much higher level of education when they showed up to dominate the land they occupied.

With the UK you have to remember that in terms of population the UK simply didn't have enough people to control the Empire they had. So we came up with a system of control; first when the UK had conquered a country (guns will always beat spears) the would find a minority group and put them in charge with a small military force. The thinking behind this was that they would have been at the bottom of the economic chain and so elevating them meant they had a lot to lose so they would keep the majority down for the British. Second they would make the new country totally dependent on the UK economically. So they would ban the country from selling their products to anybody but the British, at a supressed price, then only be allowed to import products made in the UK. So you had a situation for example, in India where India would grow cotton but they would be banned from turning it into cloth. The cotton would be shipped to the textile mills of Lancashire and then shipped back to India to be sold.

Then when World War Two was over and the UK economy was in ruins one of the conditions the US gave for the UK to receive funds from Marshall Aid was that they had to allow countries in the Empire who wanted independence to be granted independence. The UK then tried two methods to hang onto the Empire while giving independence; first they created countries that had a built in animosity to individual groups. So for example before the British got involved what is now Nigeria was actually a number of different countries. So once Nigeria came into existence there was animosity between key groups which created conflict. This happened all over Africa and the old powers and voices in the UK would say "we told you they couldn't govern themselves without fighting. We just kept the peace." When in reality the UK had designed the process to create conflict. Second instead of using the Marshall Plan money to rebuild the UK economy much of it was used to manipulate the currency markets of the newly independent countries in the hope that they would remain dependent on the British Pound and so still stay as dependent nations.

When you also consider that many of the countries that the UK conquered was at the request of private companies. In India the East India Company would use their own private army to try and force the locals to deal in the way they wanted and when they wouldn't they would use their friends back in London to have the British Navy and Army sent out to do the oppressing for them. This tends to build up resentment in the local population which passes from generation to generation.

Regardless of where the British went this was the method of occupation. So for example Jamestown in Virginia was settled not by random colonists but rather by the Jamestown Company working under a Royal Charter from King James. Now occasionally things would go wrong based on incorrect assumptions. So for example the British assumed that because white people were in charge in the American Colonies that they would be loyal to the crown and so could be trusted with guns, and we all know how that turned out. The same applied in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. In hindsight you have to wonder what people in London were thinking, because in Australia they had shipped out a lot of convicts often on very minor charges and they seemed to think they would behave themselves and not be resentful after they had finished their sentences. So then they allowed them to have guns to keep new convicts and the local population in check. But even though these white people were thought of as superior to those around them they still were considered inferior to people back in the UK.

So with all these groups there was years of resentment to the British built up and sadly there are still some in the UK who regard themselves superior to all the people of the old Empire and so is it really a shock to find out the the UK is hated as much as it is?

This is a very poor video indeed. His historical analysis is absolute rubbish, totally simplistic and very biased. No country in the world is perfect and we all have dark episodes in our history. This is total rubbish!

Like most Americans he gets the reason why America is hated in the rest of the world wrong. It as nothing to do with the size of your military. It does partly have to do with how you choose to use that military he is not wrong on that point. If you want to know why the US is hated around the world all you need to do is ask. By the way it isn't just third world countries that dislike of the US is pretty much international even in developed countries. No it as nothing to do with being envious but more with being disappointed.

I'm sorry but this is the crapiest 10-1 list I've ever seen and if he's got that out of an American history book, God help them. One other thing is, no, the world isn't jealous of America's power and wealth, we're just sorry at how you treat a lot of your people.
