14 | The APOCRYPHA | Read by Alexander Scourby | 1 Maccabees | God is Spirit, Truth and Love

A portion of these books were called deuterocanonical books by some entities. Some believe it is valid and that it should never have been removed, that it was considered part of the Bible for nearly 2000 years before it was recently removed a little more than 100 years ago. Some say it was removed because of not finding the books in the original Hebrew manuscripts.

Others claim it wasn't removed by the church but by printers to cut costs in distributing Bibles in the United States. Both sides tend to cite the same verses that warn against adding or subtracting from the Bible. Revelation 22: 18 19, The word apocrypha means hidden. The English language King James Bible contain books of the Apocrypha as follows.

One Ezras two Ezras Tobit Judith, additions to Esther Wisdom of Solomon, Ecclesiasticus Baruch, letter of Jeremiah, prayer of Azariah, Susanna, Bell and the dragon prayer of Manasseh one Maccabees two Maccabees.

The truth is the original 1611 King James Version contained the Deuterocanonical books. Just as these books the Protestants call the "Apocrypha" Books were in Martin Luther's Translation and all of the Earlier Protestant English Translations of the Bible which Predated the 1611 KJV. This should not come as a surprise when one considers that right inside the front cover the KJV says That it was: Newly Translated Out Of The Original Tongues and with the former translations diligently compared and revised.

It is also interesting to note, that the beautify engraved title page which was to the Scriptures Simply say " The Holy Bible, containing the Old testament, and the New" with no designation separating the "Books called Apocrypha" [Even though they were bound in the middle of this section.] from the Old testament. The creators of the 1611 KJV went to great lengths to form a separation between the Old and New testament even placing a special elaborately engraved title page marking the beginning of the New testament. Yet they placed NO SUCH distinction between the end of the Old Testament and the "Apocrypha". Again this show acceptance of these Books as part of the Old Testament.

The Feast of Dedication mentioned in John 10:22 confirms the validity of Maccabees

For argument’s sake, if the Maccabees are “apocryphal”, so is Ester. At least they both show exactly where God’s chosen were during Daniel’s prophecy.

I assumed the language was intended for end times.

I am a Protestant, here to at least listen to these books. I am never going to consider them canon but they are important enough to have an awareness of. I am catholic but not Roman Catholic. Too many Protestants don't even try to read these to have an awareness of them.
