About:
Jason and Lorraine. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life. We became passionate about growing our own food and knowing what exactly is in our food after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. Now 8 years in remission we as a family are on a journey to live our passions.
We document our life on YouTube videos to inspire others to get out of their comfort zone and not be afraid of change. We started our own online general store where we have available the things we make and use in real life. Thank you for following us on this incredible life changing journey!

We did something very similar to your design. We did leave the sides and back open and it helped dry the wood even faster. And because it was open we could load from all sides. It didn't matter who brought the hand dolly or wagon full of wood, it was loaded from any side. It's about ten years old now and still holding up well. The roof had to be redone two years ago and we did it just like yours, yeah! Great minds think a like lol. Thank you for sharing and we love watching your videos. My grand kids love Bernice One and Two. Love and Blessings from south Texas.

Great simple storage for firewood, I would put the floor a little higher to avoid snakes or any other small animal to live under there, and I would put the floor wood in the other direction (from left to right), so the spaces wont allow for firewood to fall in there or to get stuck there. Actually I am building one using a pallet, so the only thing I have to do is to screw the four legs to the pallet and screw the roof to it, I am considering to make a second floor to it in the middle, to maybe use it as a table (another pallet screwed there in the middle); another would advise is to screw 2 pcs of wood (2"x6") one on each end to the waist height to allow to be moved by 2 peoples to put it wherever you need it with the firewood on it.

I'm familiar with the weather in your area. That will be good to fill up with wood for times when the snow gets a little deeper. On good days, you can refill it with wood from an outbuilding. You ARE going to need a lot more dry, seasoned wood but it's sooo worth it. Make sure to keep a pot or kettle of water on top of the stove to prevent low moisture inside the trailer....nose bleeds, etc.

Jason you could use some lattice on the sides to dress it up and help keep wood from rolling out and it will still allow air flow. Just an idea I thought I would share.

Brilliant video.
Watching here in Ireland.
Gonna make that.
Also pretty new to running a stove so this will be great for storage.
Thanks man.

This is perfect for something else I need other than you are using it for. I will let you know how it turns out. Thank you very much.

It's very nice. I'm sure it will be very convenient to just step outside the house, instead of grabbing the wheel barrel to go get a load.

Love this! Could you just use a pallet for the base though?

awesome video! very simple but super functional design. also love that you used 2X4s instead of 4x4s for the posts. it makes a big difference in the overall price.

Looks good! And looks like you can expand it! I always found you can’t ever have to much space

Nice job.
That is better then just trowing a tarp over the wood pile.

Thanks for showing us that! I'm getting ready to build a greenhouse very similar to yours and I have been watching all of your Greenhouse build videos to help me with the process! I'm getting all the materials for free my wife and I also live on 1 and 1/2 acres

Nice shed I built one a few years back using boards I had replaced on my deck and I also used fence boards I picked up at the big box store for the back and sides. I left a one inch gap between the boards to let air in to help dry the wood. I had just had my roof replaced and Had a bundle of shingles left over so I put a shingle roof on it but when I have to replace them I will go with the tin, I like the look better. Thanks.

A very simple but effective build. Very impressed to see you using the speed square as a guide for your circular saw. Cheers!
