Crazy to think that a teenager and an elder can simultaneously say “Feels like part of my childhood died.” For the exact same reason.

My favourite story of the Queen is when a couple invited her to their wedding for a laugh and she actually turned up, its so strange that's she's no longer here.

They missed my favorite story - she was a Van driver in WW2, and so when the Saudi Prince came, a Prince cannot refuse a Queen. Saudi had the law forbidding women from driving...

So the Queen drove herself and the prince... at speed.... in her Range Rover around her estate.

Always makes me chuckle.

I still remember when Queen Elizabeth visited Ireland and stepped off the plane, dressed in green.

That clip in Ireland was at a dinner in Dublin Castle. Queen Elizabeth said "A Uachtarán agus a chairde" meaning "Madame President and friends". The woman who mouthed wow was our President at the time, Mary McAleese. Her reaction was the same as many Irish people when we heard that. She was respectful and just those few words meant a lot to many people and gave a sense that things between our countries were getting better.

No matter what some people may think of monarchy, it's undeniable that Queen Elizabeth II was a class act and will be a very difficult one to follow.

May she rest in peace.

I think one thing that really summed up her legacy and how impactful she was to me was when Emmanuel Macron said "To you she was your Queen, to us she was The Queen".

It really is true that whether it was in person or in a song, movie, or TV show, and regardless of what country the person was from, if someone said The Queen you knew that it was Queen Elizabeth that they meant without any clarification needed.

When you said "she was never my queen" it reminded of the French presidents message for her that I read a few days ago, where he said "to you, she was your Queen. To us, she was The Queen" and idk, that kind of sat with me.

the person that remarked "wow" when the queen spoke irish was our president at the time :) to hear her say that little bit in irish was amazing. btw to anyone wondering what she said in irish it was "president and friends" a very warm opening :)

I think one of her greatest moments (haven't finished the video) was back in 2001 right after the WTC event happened, she visited a mosque/islamic center and embraced with muslims during a time when hostility against muslims were immediate and she was viewed at that time as out of touch. it was a really kind gesture that she really didn't have to do.

As a Norwegian, she wasn't my queen either (That title is currently held by Queen Sonja, wife of King Harald V of Norway), but seeing the power she has held, the humanity she still shows and respect she both shows and gains, she's one it's gonna take some time to fully understand the loss of.

She's going down in the history books as The Queen

Like Henry James wrote as Queen Victoria passed away: "We all feel a bit motherless these days."

Her father died in 1952 her "Annus Horribilis" was 1992 her mother and sister passed away in 2002 and she passed away in 2022, years ending in "2" were very unlucky.

I go to university in Glasgow, there were hundreds and hundreds of flowers and cards outside of the Glasgow council Chambers. It shows how appreciated and loved she was in all of the countries that make up Britain.

I personally dont have any love for the Queen or monarchs in general but i do love just how passionate you are about it and you do open my eyes to some of the good that has came out of the monarch.

Being from a country that has had a, uninterrupted monarchy since the country was united under Harald Fairhair about 1140 years ago (Norway), I would not trade it for the entire world. Especially since we became a constitutional monarchy, our relationship with out royal family has mostly been great, and the majority of us love the royal family. :) Having an apolitical head of state is hugely beneficial, and works to unite the people better in my opinion. :)

Thanks for all these videos, Chris. Like you, I'm an American Royalist. It's a weird feeling, being so emotional about losing someone who was never my head of state. She was an amazing woman. She'll be missed.

Princess Anne's response to her kidnapping/assassination attempt was was "bad@$$" for lack of a better term. It sums up her personality and attitude 100%.

I've always been curious and learning about the monarchies in history and It's really fascinating how she was able to handle the rapid changes through the years since she ascended to the throne. definitely an end to an Iconic Era. May she rest in peace.
