I have been a professional in the video biz for almost 40 years. Actually for professional video- Black is at 7.5 IRE NOT zero. Between 0 and 7.5 is a buffer because under 0 is blanking and sync. If you put your Setup I.E Black below 0 you can run into problems. So have your black at 7.5 IRE. Thank you.

Hi Ted. How do you chart a waveform pixel "vertically" in the image? For instance, how do I know the IRE values of an eyebrow and an eyeball which are perfectly aligned vertically? I saw a video where someone points with authority to parts of an image and tells IRE values based on the waveform. I can tell horizontally but I don't know how he does the vertical position. Thanks! God bless!

great video, that monitor looks like it would work great not only as a field monitor but for use while colour grading. is it possible to use this as a waveform monitor for a program like Davinci resolve? if so how would one go about setting it up?

What IRE is perfect exposure for skin tone? (Not overexposed but more importantly not under exposed)
