Mr Robinson, I appreciate your thorough explanations of what's happening wrt both translations and scalings. I especially liked the explanation for vertical translation where the vertical terms, g(x) and k, are on opposite sides of the equals sign. Very interesting perspective! I believe it is rather plain that vertical transformations are independent from horizontal transformations, and vice versa. However, for a particular axis, say, vertical, scaling (multiplication of y-values) should precede translation (addition/subtraction to y-values, BUT horizontal scaling (multiplication of x-variable) should be done AFTER translation (since addition/subtraction wrt x-variable is INSIDE parentheses). Does this make sense, or does the "Order of Operations" not apply here?
