Have spent a week with an HD 2. This thing sounds excellent. Besides all the great routing, the preamps sound really good, the conversion is also really good. This is a nice bit of kit !

Thanks for the review. I like what I'm seeing with this new interface. Yours is the first I've come across so far. Appreciate your channel.

I have the Quantum 26x32 Thunderbolt, is it really worth the upgrade since it's USB-C?

Thank you for showing this. There are a few things that I did not get. Did you have both your units connected to the mac with usb-c or just one? If both are connected with usb-c do the use the same control software or do you have to use aggregate device in the mac to get both in?

I just purchased a Quantum HD 8.

I got a lot of audio cracking well my buffer size was set to 16. I had to go up to 128 on my buffer for the cracking to stop. I audio dropout protection when I raise it to high taxes the CPU tremendously. I am not extremely happy with the driver that runs the unit. My RME BABYFACE uses a buffer size of 64 and it doesn't matter what I set the dropout rate to and I get a latency of approximately 3.6 milliseconds for audio and about formuliseconds for virtual instruments.

I hope this helps everybody.

How does the HD8 currently compare to the Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig? Obviously working with Studio One using the Faderport 16.
I am considering buying strictly for synths and keyboards. But also with an application for immersive sound.
I'm considering one of these: HD8, Arturia Audiofuse 16Rig and Behringer x32 rack. All of them have min 24 inputs are fairly close in price.
Does the HD8's standalone mode allow the interface to function as a mixer without a computer?

Excellent review-Marcus- a couple quick questions on Dolby Atmos- 1. can you utilize the 2nd Heaphone output as Channels 11 and 12 for a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos mix ono a single interface, or are you required to use the 2nd interface for that? 2. Are you using Sonarworks SoundID Reference for Multichannel with Measurement Microphone for your room calibration/Speaker EQ 3. What would be the Maximum sample rate and anticipated latency figures with 7.1.4 setup

Great review!! Thank you!! The round trip latency results are encouraging as I was concerned about the fact that these were USB 2.0 protocol interfaces.

Curious. Do you typically leave UC in bypass mixer? If you do end up wanting zero latency monitoring, do you do it by using blue z in s1 or by turning on UC? Whats the difference?

How does it do w/ iZotope plugins active while in record?

Got one on order to replace my Thunderbolt 2 OG Quantum, largely for the new preamps and 32-bit converters. Thanks for the overview.

Hell of a review ! I been lookin at this cuz I need a new interface but I need to bypass the preamps ! Is that possible ? I wanna use my ISA one and 1073 ! Can you let me know if that’s possible ?

Great review. I had the Quantum 2626 pretty much since it came out and have had the new HD8 for a few weeks, so for anyone considering getting the new HD8 one thing worth considering is the fact that the new interface does not have send/returns on any of the inputs. If you have outboard preamps, it's no big deal, but having send/returns on Channels 1 and 2 on the Quantum 2626 was a great feature, allowing you to use outboard gear while tracking through the built-in preamps. The reamp feature on the new interface is really useful though. It's made using guitar pedals and outboard gear during production/mixing a breeze. Overall, I'm really happy with the upgrade.
