Bridging the gap between curricula is a key component of education that the Jefferson Elementary school creatively achieves. With a small idea that later expanded, Math and Science Teacher, Mrs. Dimperio and Music Teacher, Miss Melchor came together to create a project that would facilitate learning the mathematical concept of the Order of Operations as well as understanding and participating in an advanced performance involving singing, dancing, acting, and improvisation. The ambitious and excited 5th grade students of their class worked very hard practicing this project over the past few months in addition to mastering the concept of the Order of Operations. With help from award-winning videographer, Zack Morrison, the students were able to put their skills to the test in this video project of "The PEMDAS Shuffle." This truly gave the students a creative environment in which they learned to perform and performed to learn!
