Legends Grievous is a tragic figure whose people were framed by the species they were at war with, as well as losing the woman he loved at their hands. He hated Jedi because of how they ruined his people when the Huk went to the Republic and said the Kaleesh were the bad guys. A ship crash caused him to be resurrected as a Cyborg by the Banking Clan, and his survival from then on was fueld by his intense hatred of the Jedi for being so easily fooled by the Huk.

Canon Grievous is a pansy who wanted to be Jedi but apparently wasn't force sensitive enough so he became a cyborg so he could kill the Jedi for not accepting him.

Thanks Lucas.

Grievous may not have been the great Jedi killer we expected him to be in Canon... but after his feats with the Malevolence and the attack on Coruscant, we can all agree that he was a great General.

The old version of grievous ( I guess it's legends now), was that he was warlord on an outer rim planet. His talents were noted by Doku, who placed a bomb in his shuttle, leaving Grevious barely alive. Doku reconstructed Grevious using cybernetic enhancements and then blamed the attack on the republic, and the Jedi. Doku offered the Grevious the position as general of the CSI, Grevious accepted. Driven by rage, he hunted down many Jedi, acquired their weapons, and was trained in several Jedi fighting-styles by Doku.

So that entire plot point of him being a warrior and being a victim of lies and deception from the Huk nations as well as Dooku are just... gone? He was just a guy who "volunteered" for scientific experiments on his body? Talk about a downgrade of

Well when the Jedi entered general grievouses layer he had dead Jedi trophies in there so that part of the video was wrong.

For all we know, a lot of his tragic backstory should still be canon. We really don't know all that much about him in the official canon so we could see something like his "legends" backstory again in a new comic or something

Just figured I'd mention, as I'm sure others probably have, that while Nahdar Veb was the first Jedi was saw him kill and his first (only?) canon Jedi kill that we know by name, he's confirmed or at least hinted to have killed numerous Jedi before (and assumedly after) Veb. This is implied by the episode's Trophy Room scene. In his trophy room Grievous is seen to already have numerous lightsabers and padawan braids collected from his victims. This, plus the four lightsabers he uses in combat, serves as evidence that he's no newbie to Jedi killing. We don't see him do much Jedi killing in The Clone Wars or Revenge of the Sith, for that matter (honestly I remembered him killing Eeth Koth but I remembered wrong I guess) which is a shame but all the hints are there that he's pretty good at it

Great video, very well edited, recorded, and narrated. However, what they've done to this character is truly criminal.

The on in his layer wasn't his first lightsaber and kill, His first lighsaber along with jedi kill was on the sidelines of the battle of geonoceus (or however you spell it). Grievous was secretly watching the battle in the shadows, and a jedi happened to cross his path trying to get to count dooku. (not including the lightsaber dooku first gave grievous to train him with).

Awesome! Thanks for listening to my (and many others I'm sure) request! I'd love to see a SWM on the Dathomirans or Darth Maul. I'm sure Maul is already on your list, can't wait for it!

I would love to see one on Jacen Solo! The force is strong with this one.

Thank you for including the P.S. about Mace crushing his lungs. That brief mini series was sadly short lived and I didn't realize that it lost or never made 'canon'. Is it possible you could do a 'minute' about the series? Keep up the good work!

the fact that 2003 clone wars is no longer canon sickens me. anything published and licensed by lucasarts or should be canon

Could you do a video on the IM-418 Interdictor cruiser? It was a pretty important ship in the Imperial Navy, though most commanders didn't utilize its abilities to their fullest extent.

From what I heard there are two Canon stories in Grievous, one he was a rejected by Jedi Order because he's not Force Sensitive and became cyborg and henchmen of Dooku out of spite

Two he was a mass murderer that came to CIS for enhancements

I have yet to hear how they made up their mind since then, it seems they viewed Legends Grievous too much a tragic character like Vader and they changed him to a cowardly thug on purpose

Personally I view Grievous's Legends story as true story of Grievous and it tied in with Clone War Grievous when he claimed he came to CIS for enhancements

I believe that Grievous like Legends was set up in accident and had the alterations in his mind at the surgery changed his memory making him believe that he came to them instead of being victim in accident

That would make it more tragic as he has no memory of past

My theory seems supported as the Star Wars Visual Guides did mention his mind and memory has been altered in surgeries

I love how you didn't include anything from the original Clone Wars where he was infinitely more bad ass than he is now.

0:08 Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah, woah, woah. Grievous didn't volunteer he was forced. He felt that his cybernetic body would help him kill the Jedi. The same people who helped the Huk who were in the war with Kaleesh in which the Kaleesh happened to be innocent. Also Count Dooku ordered Grievous to not reveal himself yet until the battle of Hypori. Also didn't Grievous kill a Jedi who was in the Geonosian arena wasn't that his first kill. What happened to that?
