I first heard the music for the Royal Fireworks when I was 8 back in the 60’s, and it was a revelation to a young man who had grown up with the Beetles etc, I could not believe what I was hearing, and started a lifetime love affair with Baroque music, and especially George Frideric Handel.
I still have the record to this day.

The natural horns and trumpets are not only beautiful to look at but also sound superb.

"A Grand Overture of Warlike Instruments" as Handel's masterpiece was presented at the time. And in keeping with the military nature of the occasion, the King had specifically said..."no fiddles." On that first performance he used 24 oboes, 12 bassoons, 9 horns, 9 trumpets and 3 drums. He added the strings later for the next performance of the work at his charity concert for the Foundling Hospital on May 27th, 1749.

The first time I heard this, I knew it had to be my wedding march; just perfect.

Tired of the terrible daily news cycle? Listen to this heavenly music and marvel at what humans can do if they put their mind to it. Food for the old soul ❤❤❤

I never heard Handel in this wonderful shiny way. The old/original instruments are of course one building brick... the orchestra, the conductor...
Well done !

Hearing Handel on period instruments is so inspiring. Amazing rendition. I can’t help but notice that the bows for strings are baroque as well.

What an all-encompassing soul-stirring, goose-bump inducing feast for the ears! I listen to this at least once a week, best enjoyed with eyes closed, at loudest volume, reclining in my car with the windows rolled up. Every musical section played alone would fall short, but in convergent succession, trading off the spotlight, the crisp trills of the trumpets, steady notes of the horns, the smooth fluidity of the strings, the tinkly harpsichord, steady undernotes of the tenor and bass cellos, peppy joining of the woodwinds, commanding entrance of the drums, all swelling to a great emotion-filled crescendo that doesn't get much better than at 13:06 ("La Rejouissance"). The music has life of its own. Another ethereal experience brought to you, courtesy of western civilization and the genius of George Frederic Handel. There is little more you could hear that rivals the majesty of this piece. Bravo, brava, bravissimo!! I

I was really impressed not only by the impressive quality of the music, but also by the sheer joy shown by the musicians. Bravo!!

I never tire of the Music of the Royal Fireworks commissioned by King George II at the Pax Aux la Chappelle. Cease fire between England and France 1721. They had enough and ran out of money. IN WITH MUSIC, OUT WITH WAR.

As fresh today, as when Handel wrote it 249 years ago. Can't say that about many modern artists.

Does anyone else enjoy watching the musicians as much as hearing them? I’m just stunned by these instruments and what these artists are able to do with them.
