If you keep a lower position, you get a better advantage of the exercise. The idea is to imitate a speed skating position.

omg you are stunning, Ms. Wheeler. And i love the exercise. Been doing them for years, prior to it becoming popular. I hop over cones when I do mine, and sometimes I use hurdles of varying low to low-mid heights

I love doing speed skaters. What I personally do is touch the ground with the tips of my fingers. I figure by doing this, it will put more fire to my core area. I do it as part of my 5-6 min tabata workout.😉👍🏾👍🏾

Be careful with the side to side to play drills when doing it with no lateral resistance. After doing it three or four times a week over a period of a month, my knees began to feel weak as if they wanted to buckle under my weight. Never had this experience with any of the other drills over the last four years. The knee caps also clicked every once in a while when I stretch my legs. It even became uncomfortable when I walked. Regardless, be careful when experimenting with new land drills and listen to your body to avoid permanent injury.

if your workout says 10 speed skaters..is 1 speed skater on both sides or just on one?

get a pair of skates and skate...lol There are so many "dry land drills" that can be beneficial to non skaters.
