Senai kizhangu poriyal Recipe | Elephant foot yam stir-fry Recipe preparation with step by step photos:
Elephant Foot Yam/Senai Kizhangu contains powerful antioxidants which slow down the ageing process. The high fibre content in elephant foot yam/Senai Kizhangu shows toxin detoxification in organs. Ingredients
Senaikizhangu - 1/2 kg
Small onion - 1/2 cup
Red chilli -2
Green chilli-2
Curry leaves - few
Cinnamon stick (Pattai/Dalchini) - 1/2 inch
Cloves (Karampu/Lavang) - 2
Crushed Ginger Garlic - 1 tbsp
Mutton Masala Powder- 1 tbsp
Coconut - 1/4 th cup
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
1. Cut black outer layer (skin) of Senai kizhangu/yam. Wash & cut into small cubes. Take a bowl to add water, turmeric powder, tamarind, salt and mix it well. Add cubed Senai kizhangu and cook it for 10 min. Keep it aside.
2 Take a pan with larger bottom and heat oil in it.
3 Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
4 Add cinnamon
5 Add cloves
6 Add red chilli, green chilli and saute it well
7 Add small onion and saute it well until onions become transparent.
8 Add curry leaves and saute it well
9 Add crushed garlic ginger and saute it well
10 Add salt to taste
11 Add mutton masala powder and saute it well.
12 Add cooked Senai kizhangu and saute for 3 mins
13 Add coconut and saute it for a min.
14 serve hot with rice.
