Another tip, paint over the tape with the color that is under the tape. This ensures that if there is any bleeding, it doesn't matter because it's the same color. And it seals off any of those holes. After it dries, go back over with the new color.

I have a curved section where the wall meets the ceiling so it's not a sharp line. How can I make sure that the paint stays straight?

They have those plastic bullnose trim guides for miter cutting baseboards around those corners.

I drilled a hole thru the middle of it, and use it to make a pencil mark in the middle of the corner for your tape.

I'll stick to freehand it's much straighter and no chance of bleed through
