How to Paint Straight Lines on Textured Walls | Works EVERY TIME

In this video, I demonstrate how to paint straight lines on textured walls. It can be very frustrating to take the time to tape everything off before painting just to find it didn't work later when the tape is peeled back. This technique solves that problem and I used it during my basement renovation project. Let me add that I did not create this technique. I hope you find this video helpful in your upcoming painting projects.

Seriously thank you! I just moved to VA & textured walls are apparently super common here too. (Not so much in AL where I’m from). Anyways, I taped off our walls to paint & found this to be an issue too so I love this idea!

If you don’t want to mess with the caulk just seal the tape with the paint colorthat is on the trim that way what ever bleeds under the tape is the same color then when it dries go over the tape with the wall color and then the tape is sealed with the color of the trim resulting in the same crisp lines. ( be painting professionally for 25 years) cheers

Thank you! I wish my contractor (who does all the painting himself) knew this technique. Now we have to re-do the edges ourselves. But we will use this technique!

Just painted my (Colorado) basement, textured walls. Absolute nightmare trying to join two contrasting colors. I’m actually going to start skimming the walls to smooth them out. More work, but textured walls are too 1980s. 👍👍

Pro painter here, we do the same thing. Only thing we do different is use clear caulk.

I accidentally used non-paintable tape - disaster! Any suggestions on how to get this caulk off the wall? Peeling it by hand is not working very well.

how long do you have to wait to paint after you apply the caulk?

A technic I used is instead of cock I used the paint that I taped over so when it leaks through it's the paint that matches that side. Once it was dry I painted the other side with the other paint. So I used it in place of cock just had to wait for it to dry to paint over with the new paint. I painted large black lines in her room so make it look like a sophora store.
