Apple CarPlay: An Overview

usually a newer car doesnt have much improvements over the previous year. But carplay changes that and makes a cheaper car with carplay better than a more expensive car without it

CarPlay was a requirement when I bought my car.

Toward the end CarPlay is described as hands-free. It is if you use Siri, but in this video there was a lot of screen tapping while driving. Hardly hands free.

I do have Apple Car Play in my 2020 Ford Escape. I do played my music a lot. I used the cord for it which is so easy to charge up my iPhone the same time. I missed this one wallpaper from Apple Car Play.

I thought I was gonna use CarPlay but Bluetooth in my car is so good with viewing music I don’t want to wire my phone. Only thing that sucks is I don’t think it can read an iMessage.

My car lease is up this July and I’ve been looking at what I want in my next car. This is 100% needed. I use my maps and music every time I drive and being able to text with Siri is such a need for me.

Infotainment systems already allow you to start calls and listen to music. You can also listen to podcasts through bluetooth, this just seems like a more expensive way to become a distracted driver, focusing on a screen instead of the road.

Surprised it needs the iPhone to be plugged in and doesn’t use BT instead. Does it at least charge it while it’s plugged in?

Edit: it does charge while plugged in and evidently BT bandwidth is not robust enough to support the connection.

Can you use the radio from the car while using CarPlay for navigation? Or are you limited to playing music from iPhone if using it’s navigation?
