Rika was like 😐 "seen it before"

This scene is probably the hardest to watch in this entire series. What makes it so disturbing is how realistic and authentic the reaction is. This is what a trauma induced panic attack can look like, she's convinced its happening to her in the moment. Absolutely haunting.

God they made the remake version of her trauma attack so realistic. Makes me a bit sick to my stomach watching it

When she said "NII-NII"
made me remember the old higurashi of her crying loudly saying his name.... God I wanna hug her qwq

knowing the truth of satoko’s actions and that she wasn’t actually being abused at this point makes this kind of sickening to watch 😭 faking a panic attack and worrying your friends who’d fight the world for you only to get them killed later… this is truly satoko’s rock bottom 😩

The scariest part of Higurashi is imagining what it's like to be Rika, watching this shit happen to your closest friends over and over again

This scene was way more disturbing than the old one in my opinion, it has realistic behavior of a breakdown.

Seeing this now after knowing what's ACTUALLY going on, I'm ridiculously impressed with the fact that she can just... puke on command like that. Faking tears? Sure. But vomit-acting is a whole new level of committing to the role.

Yep, Satoko definitely wins an Oscar worthy. Amazing actor.
Edit: Or maybe it’s the effect of her new status

So sad. Keiichi was just trying to pat Satoko on the head as an endearing gesture, but, Satoko is so traumatized by her scumbag Uncle Teppei's abuse that she instantly gets triggered by this. This scene was also sad in the original adaptation, but I feel that this newer version did this particular scene better. I hope Keiichi deals with Uncle Teppei the same way he did in the older Higurashi. The most messed up part of this is that Uncle Teppei is probably doing more than just hitting Satoko. He's a repulsive man that deserves to die.

1:23 when you watch an episode for the 100th time

Despite Rika keeping a straight face she probably died inside too... Notice at the other reaction, Rena Mion(Shion?) and keichi. They show surprised and worried face because they don't know what happening to Satoko. But Rika keeping calm and observed, she KNEW how Satoko felt at the moment and being caution because comforting with hug is not always the answer to help. And kudos at 1:21 too. The shaking scence is really make me understand how Rika feel in her head, She want to comfort her best friend and it hurt because don't know what the right thing to do.

While Satoko's and my situation differ, the way she breaks down is scarily similar to my own. Just goes to show how well the author captured this particular form of breaking down. Hands down my favorite scene in the whole series. Can't watch either version of this scene without panic surfacing.

*I really appreciate this scene because 1) keiichi wasn’t being the idiot he was and go and pat her two more times and 2) her face expressions are definitely disturbing and downright sad*

I kinda wanted the scene to be a little longer and I feel like they could’ve done better with making us more connected to Satako so that when she does have her breakdown it’ll be more emotional and impactful but hey it’s still great 👍

Edit: So when is Satoko gonna get her Oscar award?

This is the one time I can confidently say that the new anime did it better.

I cried so much because I know a child, a person is not supposed to feel this way. This is just beyond a humans grasp to deal with what Satoko is dealing. And I know people would say this is just an anime and many people reacted to this scene with just: "what the fuck". As if it was surreal. But no, this is not surreal. This is a genuine depiction of an abused child and it made me cry so much, mostly when she cried out for Satoshi, but he isn't there, makes her situation more hopeless.
People who just go "what the fuck, anime just want to shock" can't cope with this being possible in real life.
