STAR WARS EPISODE 9 (Colin Trevorrow) - WTF Happened to this (Unmade) Movie?!

The Disney-produced Star Wars sequels had a great start with the smash box-office success of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens in 2015, then the wildly divisive follow-up The Last Jedi - written and directed by Rian Johnson - a couple year later. However, it all crashed and burned with universally maligned The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, directed again by TFA's J.J. Abrams.

But did it have to be that way? As many fans know, filmmaker Colin Trevorrow was hired to co-write and direct STAR WARS EPISODE 9 at the same time the Abrams and Johnson were hired to direct their respective films. However, obviously things didn't go to plan. So what did Trevorrow's Episode IX look like? Would it have been an improvement on Abrams' failure? This version would have at least made the sequel trilogy feel somewhat coherent with the rest of the SW films

To any who don't know, there is someone named Andrew Winegarner who adapted the script into a fan made comic book. It is pretty awesome and gave me more enjoyment than Rise of Shitwalker did.

So “Dual of the Fate” sounds more better than “Rise of Skywalker”. Not everything in the “Dual of Fate” script works, theirs some flaws, but I say this story would’ve been way better than the story J.J. Abrams gave us

Having found out what happens in this earlier script, as the script was leaked, I think it would have ended the sequel trilogy much better. I enjoyed Force Awakens despite it being derivative of A New Hope, but could not get into Last Jedi, so I think this version of the script would have made a better movie, since Rise Of Skywalker was all over the place

I learned a long time ago that there were certain subjects to avoid talking about at family gatherings to avoid unnecessary drama and divisiveness. Religion, Politics and The Last Jedi. Nothing good ever comes from bringing them up.

You forgot to mention that Trevarrow asked for Luke to survive the end of TLJ when Fisher passed away to replace Leia in the script and actually give Luke something to do, which is why Hamill said in several interviews he and Trevarrow were “on the same page with how Luke should be written” When Kennedy refused to change the ending of TLJ, Trevarrow quit, it had nothing to do with the box office performance of the Book of Henry.

I consider it an unlikely strategy, however I think the fanbase should try what was done with the snyder cut. A VERSION OF EPISODE 9 WITH THE ORIGINAL VISION OF COLIN TREVORROW !!!! this must be our chance!
